spt -- something new

Obviously I am seriously behind on Self-Portrait Tuesday. But if I let that stop me, I'd probably be out for good, so...

I have something new that I'm not so happy about. My feet have been killing me lately, notwithstanding my orthotics and resulting severely limited footwear selection. I don't know why they've been so bad lately. All I know is that this is the only thing that seems to help:

Yep. My workout shoes.

I'm not one to wear workout shoes with jeans, or any other normal clothes. Nor am I in the habit of wearing workout clothes all the time. But in the last week, I have worn workout clothes for 3 of the days, and jeans with these shoes 3 other times. Good grief. Has it really come to this?

I mentioned this problem to a friend, and she said that she used to wear orthotics years ago, but then she discovered that going barefoot cured her problem, because it let her pull energy from the Earth right into her feet. Hmmm... I wish that would take care of it, because I'd much rather go barefoot than wear these shoes all the time.

What's a girl to do?

Those are great shoes. I love my running shoes. They last a real long time when you don't run in them!

That is a darling "What's a girl to do?" photo. I really don't know what would help you...but I'm a barefoot girl and it helps the bones in my feet not to grind against each other so much.

I know it's wrong that this makes me laugh, but it just does because tennis shoes are so NOT you. I'm just glad they help with the pain so at least there's some relief for you.

Very cute self-portrait!

I love your portrait of yourself, very cute!

I have really bad feet also, and have to wear sneakers all the time. I found a pair I really like that are not too heavy, give me the support I need, etc. I ended up buying them in several different colors. Ugh!

Embrace your new persona: Sporty Spice!
I'm not a work out clothes for regular clothes girl either, but if you ever come to Calgary I will take you to the cutest work out clothing store on the planet and maybe they can convert you. Save your pennies, because it is pricey - I don't own any of it but I aspire to someday.

As long as you are comfortable and pain free that's all that matters. I love you self-portrait!

OH michelle...I am sorry you still having to deal with pain...I had to resort to tenni shoes...YIAC, SERIOUSLY i think I am with you on this one. It was a sacrifice for me to do it, I had to wear them inside my house, which is tabu for me, since we don't wear shoes in the house, but it was really really needed, especially since my floor is uneven slate, but I did it I think for four months straight, and it took the pain away! It really went away... ocassionally it comes back but not as severe as it was. I did go to the 'STORE' but they are sooo expensive, and I don't think it would work...I guess THE Tennis shoes would probably do the same thing. So I don't wear them anymore, thank goodness, but ocassionally the pain comes back ,so I wear them a bit and then it calms down. I just wished I could give you some hope for cute shoes in the future, at least it worked for me and there is hope.

I know they may not be the most visually pleasing choice, but if it helps your pain...

I deal with plantar fasciitis in my right foot/heel from time to time, so I try to wear supportive shoes most of the time. I know they may not be much more visually pleasing, but when I'm casual I wear Crocs or Reef flip-flops--and always around the house--I never go barefoot.

Thanks for meeting all the Davis County Blogger Moms for lunch we had a great time and Eva is just darling. I'm with you I hate workout shoes...my feet are really chlostrophobic (sp?) and need to breath...If I wear tennis shoes they have to be slip on style or I can't stand it!

Many days, I am not showered and ready for the day until Kate goes down for her nap around 1pm! I'm not a fan myself of gym shoes with jeans, but sometimes you just have to take comfort over style, you know?

Love that last picture of you! Adorable.

Thanks for bringing Lucas by again. The boys play together really well and I told him he's welcome anytime!

I say embrace your sneakers - go buy a bright funky pair and know that they make your feet feel good which has to make YOU feel good. I love my sneaks. I love my Friday (day off) when I pull on my favorite jeans and put on my sneaks. That just makes me smile :) Of course I also smile when I get dressed to go out for dinner and put on a pair of cute sandles. This is probably just a testement of my "shoe addiction"

oh i feel your pain michelle. when feet first started acting up i was in my running shoes for three weeks straight. that included church and even going to the bathroom in the middle of the night. i'm so sorry. it's the worst. it did pass though and i only have to do that occasionally these days.

I have a feeling that day will come for me... I spend most of my time in (horrible for my feet) ballet flats. Those sneaks are pretty cute, though!

This could definitely be a curse worse than short legs and dimpled knees!!!

"Oh, dee"

If I only knew how to post a photo, I would show you an entirely too eccentric collection of spring/summer shoes that I have amassed......I do own a pair of tennis shoes, but they are only seen by me! I suppose this points to the wisdom in placing me on the earth in this day and not in the days of our pioneer heritage!

Sorry for your pain, in every way!

You're too cute (even in tennis shoes, I'm sure!). Once in a while I find myself having to come to terms with my current body, age, life and having to compromise former values (like no tennis shoes in public unless headed to the gym). So this did definitely make me smile. Knowing I'm in very good company.

i am seriously so happy to see you with an spt! but i hate that you're having pain. boo!!

i've been wearing sneakers a lot due to some back pain, and it is putting a serious cramp in my *style.*

That is a dilemma... I don't love tennis shoes with jeans either, but if your feet are going to hurt all the time, wear them. There are way worse looks! Three girls in my neighborhood are swearing by having their feet "zoned" for other body ailments and say it feels great on their feet too???

Oh feet pain is the worst and on top of bad knees and now I'm feeling extra bad for you. Hope your feet and knees feel better.
I know it's expensive and hurts like a mother, but getting the massages from my massage therapist really helps. I'm almost to where I'm not feeling any knee pain. Maybe your feet are compensating for not putting pressure on your knees and paying the price.
