For me, right now, motherhood is...
Getting up in the night to dispense medicine, arrange blankets, and re-start lullabies.
Attempt (mostly unsuccessfully) to soothe so many many fears. These days, most of Eva's fears involve blood (!).
Reading endless books.
Waking up before I'd like to.
Never being able to go to the bathroom alone. And now, apparently, even showers aren't safe.
Packing school lunches. (and reminding kids to take their lunches)
Helping with homework.
Preparing food. Always preparing food. Always trying to coax my picky eaters into trying new foods (Max is finally coming around).
Doctor's appointments.
Dentist's appointments.
Music lessons, and constant reminders to practice.
Laundry. It's never done.
Taking a binkie and a blankie with us almost everywhere we go.
Planning outings around naptime.
Having serious talks about the necessity of being truthful.
Craving alone time.
Staying up too late to do what I want.
Keeping track of the kids' screen-watching time.
Constantly wondering if I'm giving them what they need.
Reminding myself that free agency is a good thing.
Prayers and scriptures.
Snuggling and giving good night hugs and kisses.
I am starting to see some of the rewards for this gig, and right now I can honestly say it's all been worth it. (I hope I don't change my mind next week!)
Happy Mother's Day to my mother, and all of the mothers in my life!

Beautiful, darling children.
Mostly, a beautiful and wonderful mother and daughter. I'm in awe of your mothering skills.
This is a scrapbook page just like it is! What a wonderful picture and your list of duties is fun to read because many of those chores change, but not all!
somedays it IS harder to see the rewards - thanks for sharing yours! you are a wonderful mother.
Great Mother's Day post Michelle!
I absolutely love this post, Michelle! I feel like I can relate to a lot of the things you said.
I hope you had a wonderful Mother's Day! You have such a beautiful family.
I always see beautiful pictures like yours and wish I had taken the time to take a picture with my children too. I don't know why I don't think of it. Probably my fear of being in front of the camera.
Motherhood is all of those things for sure. What a fair representation of the tireless and triumphant parts of this unique job of ours.
I love that picture of you all! Beautiful. Happy Mother's Day to you!

I love your list of where you are right now. I too need to put where I'm at as a mother down in words so I remember when we are at a different stage.
I love that last line..."I hope I don't change my mind next week!" So true.
Great picture, I need to start that mother's day tradition.
Another fabulous post. I love your list and wish I had though of it myself. I love that you are seeing the rewards!
