last day of girls' weekend & blog party

We slept in on Saturday -- hooray! Just another thing to add to the best vacation I've had in a long while. Kristi and I watched tv while we waited for Jill (she was, of course, up late in the night), then we made a list of things we needed to get done. Kristi and I were hoping to go to a matinee, but Jill vetoed that, saying that we didn't have enough time.

While Jill and I got ready, Kristi ran out to D.I. to get keyboards, computer mice, and vases. She also made a grocery store run. It's so nice having multiple people getting stuff done at the same time!
beribboned keyboards as centerpieces -- how cute is that?

Kristi catching the vision of just how miraculous it is when my hair finally goes straight!

Jill doesn't like this 3-way mirror, but it does make for some cool photos!

We went to Kneaders for lunch so Kristi could have soup in a bread bowl. (Why is that hard to find?) I had the turkey & avocado on focaccia (was it Hannah that turned me on to that?), so good.

On our way back to Jill's house, she surprised us by taking us to Star Mill antique store. I never knew we had anything like that around here! Tasha came and joined us and we were in antique heaven -- we ended up spending more time there than we would have at a matinee! Oops. By the time we left, we had to seriously scurry to get to our own party on time!

This is the "generally white" room. I loved it.

a green display -- I love it when things are displayed by color

part of the heavenly room of jars upon jars

Jill working her magic

a quilt I wish I had the money to buy -- he was going to sell it to me for $100, pretty good, right?

the owner, Daniel, talking to Tasha

a horrible practical joke he played on us!

so many many little treasures!

When we finally dragged ourselves away, we had to dash home, change our clothes, and load up everything for the blog party. We about died when we saw the tiny room, so it was a huge relief when we discovered the people using the other half of the room had left already and we could open up the partition. Whew!

There was more food than we could possibly eat:

Barb even made her homemade chocolates and brought them all the way from Canada!

Erin brought these. As much as I love ribbon, I had never thought of tying it around cupcakes!

the door prize table -- can you believe how many there were?!

It was so fun to see people I haven't seen (in some cases) since the last blog party: Claudia, Tasha, Elisa, Melinda, Crystalyn, Annalisa, Rachel, Lindsay...

And I got to meet Patsy, Wende, Laurie, Cecilia, Erin, Esther, Ryann, Raquel, and I'm sure others that I can't remember names of right now (!).

I got to meet Barb and Kelly in person!! SO exciting!
I only wish April, Lelly, Carlo, Shawna, Rebecca, Melinda, Jane, Natasha, etc. could have been there as well...

I love this picture of Kristi taking a picture -- with people talking and laughing in the background.

The party didn't wrap up until about 1:30. I'm pretty sure a good time was had by all! Jill dropped me off at home before she and Kristi went back to her house, and I was definitely sad about our wonderful girls' weekend coming to a close. Until next year?

Fun times. The blog party looks like so much fun and so does your girls weekend. I'm glad everything went so well and I'm glad I got to run into you on campus. I still get giddy thinking about it.

I'm so sad I couldn't be there! The dessert table looks divine and I've been salivating over Barb's chocolates since she posted about them around Christmas.

Loved your keyboard centerpieces, so fun!

Glad you all had a good time.

ribbon around cupcakes? How beautiful is that!?! I am throwing a baby shower soon, and I can guarentee I am copying that idea.

That antique store looks amazing. I love the way it was organized. Except the rat joke.

Michelle - I am so glad that you spent a "vacation" in your own town, but at someone else's house, last week! It sounds like you had a ball with all of the activities. I want a girl trip!

It was such a good time, you ladies really went all out on the party preparations. I love that picture of the 4 of us talking together, instead of a posed picture. It really captured the moment.

I enjoyed meeting you at the blog party and for the tips about straightening our curly hair; I purchased the spray and it does work wonders on my hair. Thank you for the tip!

I had a blast meeting everyone and the food was dellightful:-).

It's always bit sad when the party has to end isn't it? So glad you had a *vacation* in your hometown with your best girlfriends.

The blog party sounds truly outstanding. Friends reconnecting, meeting bloggy friends in person, cupcakes...delightful!

Such a great vacation for you! I love the pictures of Kristi doing your hair- stuff like that is essential to a girls' weekend! And that store- you know I am saving up to go there. It looks divine.

The party/weekend sounds so fun! The keyboard centerpieces are fanstastic and clever.

OK...I'm dying that you went to the Star Mill antique store. My sister in law lives right close by and Terry and I used to go there all the time. We have a huge old card catalog from the church that is filled with typeface and other little oddities we bought from Daniel. So glad to see that place is still there!

P.S. Love your hair straight! Did it make you feel different? I think it's funny how some days I'm just in a curly mood, and other days I want it straight.

I wish I was there too!

Those are the cutest darn cupcakes ever and I love your recap.

It was a good party wasn't it? I'm glad you all had a fun setting up. And incidentally, I did see you when Jenny came into town. But I suppose once since the last party isn't really that often :).

Oh my, your hair looks beautiful. I really loved the angle on one of the pictures...I think in the antique store...those shots have to be done by someone else...in order to admire our hairs from that angle....you were beautiful and I loved that you and the gals had such a great time.! You must have been soo fun at freshman year, I was in the same hall only 4 years earlier!

Michelle, it was good to see you the other night. I think you are one of those hidden gems of women - quiet but delightful when discovered.

I thank you for the kind compliment of my shoes and really would love for you to teach me how to tie a pretty bow with grosgrain ribbon. I need help.

I was just thinking "a week ago at this time we were at the blog party" isn't that weird? It's always kind of surreal to me when something so mind-consuming actually comes and goes like this, it's still marinating in my mind.

It is a little crazy that it's already been a week ago! I don't think I can quite express how great it was to meet you. I'm glad you could turn it into a mini-vacation, as well!

I am really dying over that store, and sorry, Barb ... next time we're skipping Target.
