reluctant update

I'm not sure why, but I just haven't felt like blogging for the last few days. However, I don't want blogging inertia to overtake me, so I'm here with a reluctant update.

Sunday was possibly the first week of attending our new ward where I didn't feel out of place. Marc sang a solo in sacrament meeting and it was enjoyable for me both to listen to him and to see the surprised reaction of all the people who didn't know he was such a good singer. (It was a hymn arranged by a member of our ward in the MoTab, new and lovely, and now it's been stuck in my head for days.) The Laurels went to Relief Society, so that was my first time attending R.S. in the new ward. Our new home teachers came in the afternoon -- they happen to be our neighbors across the street -- and it was interesting to find out how little we knew about them.

Marc and Eva made pizza after church.

The boys went back to school yesterday and Eva and I have both been a bit down about it. I really enjoyed not having to follow a set morning schedule, and especially having the boys around. It was so nice to have two additional sets of hands to help, and besides that they are just good company. Eva is really missing having her big brothers around to play with -- each morning when Lucas leaves for school, he tells her what they will play when he gets home, then she waits around all day for him to return. It's a bit sad, really.

(as is her technique for her favorite game: hide and seek)

Yesterday, Eva and I took all of our cans to the recycling center. (Should have taken a self-portrait there for this week's challenge, what was I thinking?!) She was fascinated with the idea of them taking all the old junk that no one needs or wants and making something new out of it.

Then we went to the fabric store to supplement my birthday banner materials. She loved touching all of the fabrics as we went up and down the aisles. She fell in love with a sparkly, pastel dragonfly fabric. It was really quite hideous, but she loved it so much that I bought her a little piece of it. What's a mom to do?

The photo wall is coming along. Only a few more frames to hang, then we'll be on to choosing photos!

I finally started spray-painting the frames that Jessie sent me for Christmas (!) -- for another frame collage above our bed. Loving the spring weather that's allowing me to spray-paint on the deck.

Back to piano lessons this week, blah blah. Such is life the week after spring break.

LOVING the wall of frames. curious about the spray painting frames-- what material are they made of?

I'm glad you chose to post even though you didn't feel like doing so. I'm sorry you're feeling the back-to-school blahs, you definitely had an enchanted spring break last week.

I'm so excited about your wall of frames!

The return to reality can definitely be a hard one sometimes, especially after such a nice break. I definitely felt that way after Christmas break. Hope real life starts feeling better!

Eva is fortunate to have such sweet brothers. Buying her that hideous fabric sounds like something Grandma would do! I love your photo wall and can't wait to see its completion.

Michelle, I know what you mean about that post- spring break blah. Owen and I felt it around here, too, after the "big boys" went back to school. So nice to abandon the morning routine, so nice to be home or out and about, whatever you choose, with no school time contstraints. Love spring break.

Love those frames, too. Your photo wall is sure to be stunning!

One more thing - let me tell you again how much I love your quotes on your sidebar! I just read the one from Albert Einstein about speaking to everyone the same way and it is the perfect quote for my talk this week in Sacrament meeting. Just found out about it late last night .... hmmm .... at least I have a quoute for it now! :)

That pizza looks awesome. Poor Eva- and you- to lose such great helpers and entertainment. She is such a lucky little thing to have those two as her brothers. Oh- and I can't count the number of heinous fabric pieces I have bought for Mya because she loved them so.

We are just starting a little break for Linc before summer semester starts- and I am determined to make it the best "spring" break week/end for us from your example- thanks!

I'm with Hannah, hand over that pizza!! Is that tomatoe pie??

I must say, at 1:30pm after a too long day at the designer boutique and frustrations with my retail manager.......it is fun to see a post. It lifts my spirits and helps me forget I feel nearly dead!

Linda Giler's son got his mission call and she has asked me, or me and Jessie to sing in Sacrament meeting. I would love to have the information on the song Marc sang.

Love and goodnight!
