the Eva update
We brought Eva back a pair of pajamas from Chinatown. Even though I was berating myself for buying size 2, they fit her perfectly and she loves them. She wore them for two days and nights and then I finally had to force her to take them off so I could wash them. (We went to do some errands and she got a lot of positive feedback from people, so I'm sure that reinforced her desire to wear them!)
Here a few recent Eva happenings:
A few days ago, she and Marc were playing with animals in her room -- her favorite games involve pretend play with "soft animals" (stuffed) or "hard animals" (small plastic). Marc spotted a tiny bug crawling on his finger and mentioned it as a point of interest, showing how tiny it was, saying that it was tickling his finger, etc., then he disposed of it. Eva had a major freak-out. She was eventually reassured, but woke up three times that night with bug nightmares. Good grief. Jessie is planning Bella's birthday party with a bug theme! That would not work around here, despite our best de-sensitization efforts.
She is now getting really into story-telling. This morning she told me that she went to the ocean and was swallowed by a shark, but fortunately Lucas came along with some pepper. The pepper made the shark cough and spit her out. Then the same exact scenario was repeated with a whale. I hear many entertaining stories every day, all told with the apparent conviction that they are true.
She is obsessed with Monsters, Inc. and usually watches it every day. Her favorite character is Mike Wyzowski, whom she calls Mice Mizowki. I love this picture she drew of him! It's one of her first drawings that is something recognizable.
She continues to applaud herself, saying, "That's a great idea!" to all of her own ideas, and "I'm a great singer!", etc. I wish I had her unwavering self-confidence.

I should tell myself more often "that's great" and applaud myself rather beating myself up. She's precious in her Chinatown outfit :)
Love the outfit! She is a little girl with a big personality! I am sure having two doting older brothers helps so much with self confidence. What a joy she is.
Major lurker on your blog but I had to comment on Eva. LOVE the pj's they/she are adorable.
My 3 yr old watches Monsters Inc ALL THE TIME. She recently did a similar drawing and was very excited that I knew that it was Mike. Leah now goes around calling her little sister BOO. Seems like our girls would get along great (although my girls like collecting bugs!)
I love little kid drawings!
She is adorable in her Chinatown attire.
I heart the p.j.'s. Just need a tiny Eva of my own to dress up in such...:)
I don't have time to read it now...BUT WHAT AN ADORABLE OUTFIT! OH TO HAVE A LITTLE GIRL!!!!! SHE LOOKS BEAUTIFUL!
The Chinese ensemble is darling and such a great color for her.
Eva is so animated, has such a huge vocabulary and is so full of personality that it's really something that must be witness to be believed.
Eva is an absolute doll!
Oh my goodness, those pj's are SO cute!
Daniel is a story-teller too. It's so funny to hear the creative things that they come up with.
Her drawing of Mike is pretty impressive! I think you have a little artist on your hands.
We have some little jammies like that from Chinatown too. Lindsey, now 8 still tries to fit into them...rather comically I might add. They are definitely cute on Eva.
I love all the little Eva stories. Her drawing is so cute.
It's fab, isn't it, to watch their personalities emerge - so I wonder if Eva will be the type of little girl to get in a tizz when anything flies around her? Erin was never fussed by anything like that when she was small, but Isla's quite different. I think she's like Eva. The world has to stand still for Isla while we deal with any kind of tiny spider or fly.
I love those jim-jams too! I'm glad they fitted her okay. I stress about child sizes too. They're as inconsistent as adult sizes.
Hopefully she keeps up the positive self talk! And, actually, she keeps believing the positive messages she gets from other people, even if it keeps her in the same outfit for days at a time!
She is hilariously adorable!
Eva in the fabulous Chinese pajamas is just too adorable. But, I LOVE the picture! Little kid art is just one of my favorite things. It's a wonderful likeness, too.
PQ is also into the positive self-talk, which I love. The other day she was going around saying, "I'm so helpful." After the toothpaste week, I didn't agree with her assessment, but wasn't going to crush her view either.
I love that she is applauding herself. Too cute. I too wish I had that same kind of confidence.
Lulu has a little outfit too. Although she only wears it when she is acting out Mulan.
I am IN LOVE with your banner. I cannot tell you how much I love those flowers.
she is adorable michelle! and i can totally relate to the pj thing. hanna has been wanting to wear hers every where too. although hers aren't nearly as cute.
I love this update.
The pjs are beautiful and way too good to be wasted at night when no one will see them. I am on her side.
Yes, the childhood self confidance is wonderful. Now, how do we let them keep that forever?
Ah, to have the confidence of a three year old! But then again, she is so cute and she knows it, so why not?! I love the pj's! She looks adorable in them!
darling.
after our last SF trip we bought dresses in china town and the three girls would wear them to church - oh they were so cute.
