satisfaction

Marc left early this morning for a business trip. His parents were going to come and take the kids out on a grandparent date, but we had to cancel since Max has been sick. I was really disappointed when I found out they had planned to take Eva along this time too, as then I was truly missing out on some quality alone time.

It really ended up being a great day anyway. Eva was thrilled to have her brothers home from school -- she tagged along with whatever they were doing, and they allowed her to. Since they were taking care of any pressing needs, I climbed back into bed and read for an hour! Then I went downstairs to work out, with nary a cry for attention or a drink. I made a couple of phone calls, and then Eva was asking to go to bed. Unprecedented!

While she took a nap, I hastened to my poor neglected studio. I was able to work in there for 3 hours! That, combined with the 3 hours I put in on Saturday yielded this:

I got to the surface of my desk! Better yet, I dusted it! I haven't seen this sight in months. I took a before shot today, but I really wish I had a before before shot, when the junk was piled up about a foot high all over it...

a most pleasing sight (storage idea taken from Jill), replenished with the many many ribbons that were on my desk

I filed the 4" stack of papers that were stuffed on top of my paper storage containers. (and purged a 2" stack to give to my neighbors, woohoo!)

Here's the bad and the ugly:

still so much to do. But I could not be more satisfied with my current progress!

Reading in bed for an hour sounds priceless right about now. I love the visual of Eva tagging behind her brothers and them letting her do it.

Your desk looks great! Good work, getting to the bottom of piles is not easy!

Michelle! it looks fantastic! Although I find cleaning my craft space almost as satisfying as using it, I often get frustrated with how long it takes! And it's hard finding a place for every new thing. Good work!

I am absolutely delighted for you!! It's like a dream come true, seriously. I can't believe you got your desk cleared, that's a huge job! I know the pain involved with that, so I know what a great accomplishment that is. Wow!

I hope you take every opportunity this week to spend time in there. With a clean work surface there's no telling what you can do!! If only you had a circle journal to work on, ha.

You have made amazing progress!! Give yourself a big pat on the back.

The extra reading time sounds delightful. If I only read a page or two before my lids close at night, I'll be reading The Count of Monte Cristo until I'm 45. I must carve out some extra time. :)

I, too, have been on a CLEAN HOUSE groove and am loving it! A very good idea for the ribbon storage!!! I'm glad the day worked out afterall, but I hear ya on the ALONE time. I am contemplating a movie night with the gals...or maybe I'll just run off on my own. A girl can dream, right?

I agree with Amy... I like reorganizing my stuff almost as much as using it. Your desk looks great, you have a fabulous room going on there.

Proud of you! Give your self a pat on the back for a job well done. Sure you have more to do. But it looks awesome.

Sounds like we've got the same bug :). I LOVE the idea of the shoe hanger for ribbons. I did that in my townhome pantry but of course nuts and candy don't look as pretty.
