I tried to be clever with the black & white & read all over theme. I took some pictures of myself both inside and outside Borders today, but none of them turned out. I guess I'm still a little self-conscious about the public self-portraits. My combined speed and stealth didn't make for any good photos.
So here I am in front of my front door. Here's what strikes me:
- not a good eyelash day (that's for you, Amie!)
- I was hoping that black & white would disguise my pores more than color -- not so much...
- I enjoy the skeleton hanging on the door and the plates above the door, even though they rattle when someone slams their car door outside.
- I'm starting to get what my mom calls "horrid age spots". I always used to laugh at her and think she was exaggerating. Now I know, they really are horrid!
- Apparently my nose does that unattractive widening thing, even when I'm smiling with my mouth closed. Bummer.
- I still had lipstick on. I applied it at 9:30 a.m.; I took the picture at 5:00 p.m.
- I was genuinely happy when I snapped it, for the following reasons:
- Eva slept through the night last night! (for the first time in about 2 weeks) I woke up on my own at 6:30, feeling completely rested, and got up, showered, packed the boys' lunches, and read my email before she woke up. That never happens!
- I didn't feel stressed, for the first time in several days.
- I worked in my studio (organizing) for a couple of hours today. Ditto yesterday.
- I had a Cadbury mini egg in my mouth. (thanks, Jill!)

How do you get your lipstick to stay on that long?

I wanted to do something creative with books today too. Didn't happen for me either.

I love your plates above the door - they're a very pleasing shape, and really stand out in the b&w.
I also thought about the read all over aspect, but me reading a newspaper would have been an all out lie.

I love the skeleton in the background. I have problems looking at pictures of myself up close too, but I am totally impressed you still have lipstick on! I'm lucky to last an hour.
hey I loved your post...because all the things that you wrote...even though you are self=concious about the photo. I think a baby that doesn't sleep stresses mum's out, and sometimes you just need to recharge...seriously tyhe last couple of weeks...I really don't know where to hide...they are driving me nuts.

i too am self-concious about spts in public but i have been trying to get better with them... i think it is a riot when people offer to take the pic for you, instead! ha!
I am glad you were genuinely happy, you sure look it. As for the horrid spots I don't see them and funny you have bad eyelash days...so do I.
