sick, Sick, Triple SICK!!!

Jill and the kids came over today for Creative Monday, since there was no school and we have missed two Creative Fridays in a row.

All was going well (relatively speaking) until Whitney informed me there was a dead mouse in the basement. I was a bit surprised, since we haven't caught any mice for a couple of weeks, but I went to empty the trap.

Imagine my disgust when I picked up the trap and maggots started dropping down! Maggots. In my house. I screamed and dropped the trap. When I got my wits about me, I got a roll of paper towels and scooped them up. I threw the mouse away, trap and all, but then... can you believe it gets worse?.... there was a whole pile of them underneath it.

That's where I lost it. (And I think Jill documented this little freak-out on video. great!) I could not face them, so I sprayed the hell out of them with my industrial bug spray. I figured I'd go scoop them up later, after they'd died and stopped moving, and I'd calmed down a bit.

Can you believe it gets worse still?? When I went back later to see if they were dead, they were GONE. I don't know where they are!

I'm pretty sure this is the most freaked out I've ever been.

Oh Michell, this story just keeps getting bigger. I'm so glad you've documented it.

Hmmmm. Where could they be?

Let us know what you dream about tonight :)

Oh. My. Gosh! That is so disgusting! I was wondering what the latest was with your mouse saga, but this is almost too much. I wonder where those maggots went?

Sick!!! Where would this classify in your life encyclopedia? M - for mouse/maggots OR S - Sick!

Wrong on so many levels!! I'm so sorry but I'm like Amie, my skin is crawling right along with you! Can you tell yourself that they vaporized and they will never live again? I would!

I had to suppress a physical gag.

I came to your blog expecting a nice trip post and then I get this?!
I am just impressed you handled it without you husband or calling someone else to do it. I would have had to call someone!

I am going with the vaporized theory as well. So WRONG! So not what you should have to come home to after a family weekend. Ewwww...

I unfortunately learned about maggots just this year too. They decided to breed in the bottom of our garbage bin. I said to Jared, "Where do they come from?! Why are they here?" Yuck!!!! I washed it out with bleach for like 3 weeks straight. Finally. gone.

Good luck finding yours. Ewwww.

Oh BARF! Sorry you have to deal with those nasty little critters...hoping they didn't move in and make themselves at home!

Is it wrong that I found this whole episode so hilarious? I guess it's because you aren't freaked out about spiders the way I am, so even though I don't enjoy maggots or mice I'm not freaked out by them the way you are.

It was so funny to watch you be so sicked out by it. The video I have is not of your initial reaction, but is still funny. I must load it on here for you.

I love that you laugh and think productively through your trauma- I would be a wreck!

So sorry about the ordeal! Hope you don't have another one like that in the near future!!

Michelle! Where. Did. They. Go. Did they melt? They must've melted, right? ... Right?! That's a ridiculous, gross story.

....I too, am freaked out.

Scary.

AND Gross.

Gross and scary.

I hope you find them, but at the same time, I hope they scattered out of your house, never to be found again.

Thanks for the good laugh. The video, just too perfect, you looked absolutely distraught.

Seriously where would they go? I, like you, would be freaking out.

oh dear michelle...you must get that poison that is blue and looks like dry food...it is soo good because it dehydrates those beasts....and sends them looking for water usually away from your home....oh my goodness...not good, not good at all...

Oh, oh, oh! I would be a mess! I think alison has the right idea -- they surely melted. They're not mobile creatures, right? They melted. I feel good about that. I'm so sorry!

I can't believe I almost missed this post. Melissa asked if I had read about the mouse maggots and, horrified, I ran to check your blog. EEEWWWWW!!!!! I don't know when I have ever felt so creeped out in my entire life. Where's the Orkin man when you need him?!
