it's a miracle!

Owing to a few tricks from my mom, I straightened my hair! I mean really, truly, straightened it! Oh, I've tried before, loads of times, with varying success. I've used a flat-iron, a big curling iron, a staggering variety of products.

It takes me about 40 minutes to do, and usually I'm rewarded with straight-ish hair that is still somewhat frizzy and still has way too much volume. But not this time. This time, it was straight. It was flat. I would even go so far as to say it was sleek and shiny. I almost couldn't believe it was my hair!! (It was so funny -- Jill said at book club last night, "You look so different, it's like you have half the hair you normally have." as though that is a bad thing, which prompted me to say, "I know! Isn't it awesome?!")

For those very few among you who may be curious as to the method that brought about this amazing transformation, here's what I did: first, I sectioned off my hair and blew it out with a round brush. Then, I used this funky flat-iron comb my mom sent me (which sections the hair and combs it, preparing it to be flat-ironed), and I spritzed a silicone spray about 2-3 times on each section of hair before I ironed it. Voila!

I've used silicone products before, of course, but I guess I never used enough. I think I have now proven, once and for all, that it is impossible to put too much product into my hair. And that, my friends, is more than you ever wanted to know about my hair. But those of you who know me well will recognize the victory in realizing this, my lifelong quest...

{a bit of bad news: even though the weather has sufficiently cooled to keep me from sweating from dawn till dusk, the straight hair still didn't really last for a second day. Darned if I don't sweat in my sleep, just enough to bring the bend back. @$%!}

I noticed in Jill's book club post that your hair looked great! I have hair issues too, but the opposite - mine is way thin and I have to use a round brush to give it volume!

very pretty Michelle. I love it! It was well worth the work involved.

Your hair-straightening victory was a huge success! You looked fabulous last night. Seriously half as much hair.

You look HOT! I love it. I say totally worth the work to get that different look for something special. Or just to make you feel awesome on a usual day. So excellent.

(Totally sucks about it only lasting one day though!)

Wow, Michelle, that picture of you is beautiful. Your hair and eyes--it's really, really pretty.

I'm always amazed at how much of a difference a hairstyle can make to how someone looks. You really look like a different person!

Rats to it only lasting a day. But I'm glad you've found 'The Method' now!

I love it, you look fabulous!! But for the record I love your curly hair too, even when you don't.

Could you get away with a less than 40 minute session on the second day or did you start all over? I say just straighten what bends and leave the rest alone. Most of the time, it's all about product, and I love product!

Love the look! Sad that it takes so long, however, but I relate to taking whatever time is needed to acheive the look you want. It's the cursed Petersen Primping Gene.

That is astounding. You did not exagerate, and that was definitely worth a declarative phone call! And I totally get the sweat-head thing. It's kind of a gross way to refer to yourself, but I don't know what else would cover it. It's 9 pm and I have the air and the ceiling fan going and even though I don't feel particularly hot (just the persistent hot that never leaves) my whole hair line is wet with sweat. Just the thought of any kind of locomotion apparently sends me into a sweat. If only sweat alone counted as exercise, I'd be close to a super model.

Wow! IT looks great! Too bad it takes all of that effort and work to only last one day!!

You have such beautiful curl to your hair, but the straight is very flattering, as well! It's always nice to mix it up! Looks great!

Gorgeous picture! Your eyes (and the lovely shiny straight hair) are beautiful!

You know I LOVE your curly hair, but I have to admit sleek looks good too.

I have had several curly-haired clients that have a hard time straightening their hair, yours looks so good! you did an awesome job. I also love your curly hair, probably because I have straight hair and have always wanted curly hair! Bummer it only lasted one day, but it looks great!

Beautiful! It really looks fantastic, although I do love your curly hair, too. Mine is very straight naturally (think straw), and so your lovely head of curls always seems so enviable.

Your hair looks great. I totally understand all of the effort. I also don't think I can "over product" my hair even though I really do have 1/2 of what you have.

SO nice to have options. I think you have awesome hair though and great curl.

it looks great! i have just started straightening my hair, which seems odd to me, because i've always thought i had very straight hair! but now that i know i can make it straighter and sleeker, i feel a bit addicted!!

but your right, it definitely doesn't hold over until the next day for me, either...

I love it, Michelle. (: Your shirt in that picture is way cute too!

And I can relate on the "one day hair" thing too. Though my hair never looks as fabulous as yours, it's thin, fine nature + my apparently bizarro sleeping habits = completely crazy hair the next morning. It sucks.

Congrats on the perfectly straight hair. You look marvelous!

You look great! And I think it's totally okay to take a long time on your hair--it's worth it!

That's the worst. Mine doesn't take as long to straighten, but it will only stay straight for about 1/2 a day.

I too noticed your hair in Jill's book club post and thought it looked FABULOUS. I love it straightened.
It looks so fantastic!!!

I think your hair and my hair are soul sisters, although yours in it's curly form is much better than mine! I LOVE IT when I get a haircut and she cuts out like half of my hair. I know the pain that can go into the straightening process so congratulations! And good of you to remember to get it on 'film'. It looks great!

Your hair was soooooo cute! I think that it is great to be able to choose curly or straight.

I use curl enhancing products to try and get some curl out of my slightly wavy hair. The victory of the right hair tools and products is thrilling!
What I really like is having the option to go curly or straight - enjoy! You look gorgeous, very refined.

Congradulations! I'm happy to have aided! (I bought myself one of those silly looking combs, but haven't tried it yet!! Give me some tips, it looks scarey!

Your hair looked so good at book club! I hardly recognized you when you came to the door that night!
