eight

Eight random things about me right now, because I was tagged by Hannah:

1. Yesterday I was helping out at Lucas's school and I saw a girl who was the spitting image of the main character in Little Miss Sunshine. No joke. She even looked equally comfortable with herself.

2. This morning, I saw a little mouse poke its head out from behind the filing cabinet downstairs. I have two traps set down there, but I moved one of them right up to the opening. We'll see. Lucas took the opportunity to remind me that snakes eat mice. (He really wants a snake.) He suggested we let Jack out and then let the snake -- that we do not have -- out to get all the mice. Very enterprising.

3. I am feeling more optimistic about my knees right now than I have for months. Today I worked out for the first time since this spring before my first surgery!

4. I am only just now learning that tackling an onerous task may actually require less energy than avoiding said task.

5. I haven't made a ton of progress in freeing myself from negative thoughts or excess weight this year, but with Marc's help, I do feel a new freedom in ridding ourselves of clutter. One step at a time, I guess.

6. Speaking of "body clutter", I have reached a new low in that department. (Actually, a new high would be more accurate.) I caught a side view of myself in a store window, and although I know better, I thought I looked 7 months pregnant! I hope no one asks when the baby is due.

7. Today it is finally cooler outside than it is inside my house, so I have the windows open and the A/C turned off. Delightful!

8. One of my favorite summertime treats: nectarine smoothies. Take a ripe nectarine (or two), add some plain yogurt, a little milk, a little sweetener of your choice, a dash of vanilla, and ice cubes and blend. So good.

interesting 8. i love that everyone seems to be doing lists. i may have to jump on board! :)

oh my on the mouse! still at war, huh? oh lucas...wouldn't a cat be easier than a snake?

i so agree on clutter and i am taking steps to rid too so i can relate.

last but not least, so happy that your knees are improving. and working out will hopefully help you feel better about your new low/high. it stinks when you want to work out but can't b/c of an injury. don't be too hard on yourself!

Lucas' theory with the snake and the mouse reminds me of that story 'There Was an Old Lady Who Swallowed a Fly' - I must Google that as I have v.blurry memories of that story...

Glad you're riding a wave of positive thinking at the moment, esp. with your knees as I expect you have to be exceptionally patient with them.

That nectarine smoothie sounds oh so good. I want to go buy some nectarines(if they're still in season)
I am happy that your knees are doing better.

May I PLEASE come sit in your AC-less house and sip a nectarine smoothie with you?? PLEASE!?

I am so happy to be able to be online to read about your 8 things.

I can't believe you saw a little mouse peek it's head out from behind the filing cabinet. Are you freaking out or are they growing on you? I say "no" to snakes!

I'm with you on #4, it's so much easier to just do the thing than to dread it.

The whole mouse thing is still freaking me out.

I was actually cold today. It's a nice feeling. I love this time of year. Good luck with your knees and that mouse! Between the mouse and the snake, I think I'd take the mouse.

Oh - I so relate to number 4 - tackling rather than avoiding - something that has slowly worked its way into my brain, too!

I have got to try that smoothie.

I am with you on body clutter woes, I did South Beach for 1 week, lost 3 lbs...took a trip home, gained all 3 lbs back and haven't gotten back on the diet. I refuse to give up the fight!

That smoothie does sound tasty. Never thought to do one with a nectarine...

I hope I never have to say no to a snake. I just don't think I could handle that pet because it is one pet I have no desire to touch or deal with. At all. Lucas does make a good point with the mouse, but then you would have a snake problem.

Glad you are feeling optimistic about your knees!

wow michelle that is wonderful that your knees are getting better, that is so something I take for granted, I can't believe you are playing mouse still...and bravo with the clutter that has got to take away soo much stress and give you soo much a feeling of hope and calm in your surroundings...bringing and inviting hestia! If you really ever want a snake I know a friend who has one. She is willing to drive it up from CA. I told her I could not ever have one. Sorry your having so much trouble with mice. I am having spider problems here. I have decided after reading your post that I can handle a few spiders.

Hannah tagged me too.... I don't feel like I can think that hard right now?

I enjoyed your list. Sorry about the mice, I would not be good about that. I am happy to hear your knees are improving! I want to jump on the de-clutter bandwagon. I am feeling overwhelmed in my mess....

PS - I think I would rather have mice than a snake? I would be trying desperately to get rid of both!

The mice! They must go, so sorry they have stuck around this long!

The no a/c and the nectarine smoothie sound absolutely perfect right now! I want our hot streak to end. Now.

Your smoothie sounds heavenly! I must rush to the store and grab some fruit!
Your mice issues are alarming! I had ONE and about did me in! I can't imagine them lurking around! I love the snake idea - but you would almost have to put it out in the house and leave for the day - hoping that it would find the mice. Then, you would have to be hopeful you could find the snake! Yikes! Good luck! Keep us posted if you really do take up the snake idea! ;-)

I really relate to #4! Completely!

Oh no, another mouse! But, yeah, I don't think letting a snake have run of your house is the answer either. eek!

I hope your knees treat you kindly from now on!
