circle journals rock!
I have wanted to do a circle journal for years now, but I never had the perfect reason to do it until Jessie moved away. She suggested that we try it, and I was thrilled. She made one, and then I made one, and now we send them back and forth to each other. Talking on the phone, blogging, and doing the circle journal -- it's the perfect trifecta that keeps me from missing Jessie so much it hurts.
There was a slight learning curve -- for example, I learned that I absolutely cannot send a circle journal media mail to North Carolina (it took two weeks to arrive!). But I could not ask for a more enthusiastic correspondent. I was talking to Jessie on the phone this morning and she said, "we need to establish a good routine for sending these!", meaning that you can't receive one of the journals and just hold onto it; you've got to write in it and get it back into circulation quickly.
It's so fun to write to Jessie, and to be able to say anything I want -- it's uncensored. I fear Jessie is getting the short end of the stick on this deal, though: she is hilarious, while it's been well established that I'm rather, well, boring. So while my entries are probably pretty pedantic, her last one included classifieds for voodoo doctors! How can I compete with that? I can't, and I guess that's the best thing about doing this with Jessie: she loves me anyway!
{p.s. another bonus to the circle journal: there is often additional good mail included in the package!}

Oh Michelle, how can you say you're boring when you can use words like "trifecta" and "pedantic" in your writing and it sounds completely natural?!
I love the covers of your journals.
I think the circle journal is a great idea. I am impressed you guys are so in touch with each other. I wouldn't have thought to include outside articles. Before that I was thinking "what more would I say?!" I should have known creativity would come into play.
I agree with Jane- perfectly said! And I thought we had established that 'tan' as you call it was good.
I too LOVE the circle journal. It is a different sort of correspondence b/c it is so uncensored, just between us, and creativity can come into play. Imagine the treasure they will become and all the more so with time! I also love that each book is very much the person who made it. I love yours- beautiful, classic, not too many notes.
The circle journals are brilliant indeed- Yours is so beautiful and so you. Trifecta Michelle- I didn't even know that was a word! How could your entries possible described as boring?
too envious to say anything more than "brilliant"!
What an awesome idea for the two of you to do together. It's perfect. Creativity. Connection. Good mail. It's got it all.
ps let me know when you are done with HPotter #7 and what you thought. I finished it last week.
Oh, but media mail is so much more inexpensive! I always feel like I get away with something when I send it as media and it's not really a "media" item. Cheesy excitement, I know. . .
You are not boring to me at all. I love to visit your blog.
The circle journals look so cute! Great work to both of you! I am sure that you are not really as "boring" as you think you are.
You did a great job on the journal it's so beautiful.
I love your friendship with Jessie it's very special.
You are not boring!!!
I just wrote the exact same thing as Jane, then saw hers & erased mine. I do so truly love that you used "trifecta" and "pedantic" in your post. Equal to voodoo doctors in my world.
well, I have no idea what a circle journal is...I can kind of imagine, but not really...but all the goodies that come with it...that is something good definately
I am totally in love with this idea! I think this will be a wonderful treasure for your life! I think that it is so fun to read sisters bantering back and forth and to see what is going on inside their heart and brain! You two are perfect sisters for one another!
Such a great idea!
that is so, so cool. love it. and the memories you are making...wow.
fantastic.
hmmmm, who can i do a circle journal with? -carlo
I'm afraid the journal would be sent to me and it would take me forever to get it back out. I love the anticipation of what you're getting back though. What a treasure!
how have i never heard of these?!? sounds like a ton of fun.
I've never heard of a "Circle Journal" either, but am determined to make one to share! Are there any rules or guidelines? Sounds like so much fun.
It's so great that you two can do this. I think it's definitely one of the blessings of her move, because this will be such a fun and substantial thing to have and do.
I'm going to start charging you money each time you say you're boring, it makes me crazy! Stop it!!
