Apparently, Max really is starting junior high in just 4 short days! We went to the school yesterday to pay the school fees ($107, for the privilege of attending a public school!).
He got his locker assignment, and we spent some time figuring out how to open it. I couldn't remember how to open a locker -- how's that for feeling old?
We were laughing over trying to open the locker! When he finally did it, there was a note in there congratulating him.
but at least we weren't the only ones!
she just had to try it out too.Eva had a blast running around the junior high. If I had let her, she would have gone up and down the big staircases all day. (As is my way now, I was watching her wistfully, wondering what it would be like to go up and down stairs pain-free. It's my constant refrain, but if you have fully-functioning knees, please take a moment to appreciate them!)

this sign warmed my heart a little bitAt least this time I didn't feel the total panic I did upon entering the school that past couple of times. This time, I felt excited for all of the new things that Max will experience this year.
This picture just says so much. The inexperience, the innocence, the caution, the hesitancy of not knowing what he will find...
I wonder what these halls will look like when all of the students are there at the same time!
Max seemed kind of excited about his new school, and his little sister was there to provide adoration at every step of the way.I hope so much that this will be a good year for him!

This so doesn't seem that long ago to me- I started at Canyon View in 9th the first year we moved here! It is still so hard to place myself in your shoes of having a toddler and a tween. I hope Max loves this year- junior high was a great time for me.

how exciting! i was at the high school registering taylor yesterday, and realized it's been a long, long time since i've been in school!

Those are great pictures! That's so weird that Max is old enough to go to junior high; when I was there I had a good time (granted after I was in high school I thought "woohoo!") but it was fun feeling more "grown up" with a locker and different classes. I'm sure he'll be amazing!

The school looks fabulous, Michelle. Just pristine and really inspiring. Many of our schools here are falling apart at the seams. They're either crumbly old Victorian schools, or tired old 1960s things. My school was full of creaky floorboards and wood-panelled walls! I'd be thrilled to have Erin go to a place like that which looks so clean and modern and huuuge!

I remember junior high it seems very long ago almost like a different lifetime. I enjoyed it for the most part, so happy that Max is excited.
I love your pictures--I want a camera like yours so bad! I love how you document the little, everyday details of life. I feel your pain about school fees. When I first logged online to pay Emily's, the total that came up was $849! I about freaked out. It turns out they were including all the optional things they could, but it still will cost $300-$400 when all is said and done. Thankfully I don't have to pay it all at once. The story of my life: installment payment plans....
I'm still freaking out that Max is going to Junior High, but it's so exciting too. These pictures are great (I wish I had pictures from when I went to check out the Jr. High for the first time with my mom). I'm sure he'll do great!
Jr. High. I have so many memories of anticipating entering 7th grade, most of them fearful! I was tooooooooo short and I was sure that no one would believe I was really a 7th grader. Max looks so old in most of the photos you posted! He looks plenty tall enough! He will be in my prayers and I know he will be a success. I can't bear to think of what Eva will be like with no one home however---so sad!
You have a way with the camera for sure! They are priceless and even moreso in the future.

sorry for the double post! Sometimes I get too impatient and think the darn thing isn't really working! I don't have a clue how to fix it!
