Creative Friday

Today we went to Jill's for Creative Friday. We've never really tried that because of Eva's napping schedule, and I didn't know how it would go. Actually, I figured I would leave around 12:30 or 1:00 and take her home before she became a monster. She shocked me by hanging tough and enjoying all the kids running around. We didn't leave until 5:30!

Not only that, but she left me alone much much more than she normally does at home, so I managed to get quite a bit done. (Productivity is not requisite for Creative Friday, but it sure doesn't hurt!)

Jill made quick work of a giant stack of thank you cards, and I worked on my idea book. (It's something I've theoretically been working on for months and months, but it's only finally coming together now.)

Lucas and Landon spent a lot of time making rivers and ponds in the dirt with a hose. Eva literally jumped right into this action, soiling two dresses. That's when I just gave in and let her run around in a diaper. She was dirtier than she'd ever been when we went home, but she didn't seem to mind at all. Besides, I love putting her to bed when she's freshly washed and smells so sweet.

In short -- a good time was had by all.

I'm delighted that today went so well and that all the kids were so cooperative. Sure it was extremely messy here, but since I made my peace with the chaos during the girls' stay last month, I've become much mellower, so I came out of today feeling calm, content and headache free! Woohoo.

I can't believe how dirty Eva got outside, but it was rather adorable really.

I can't believe Eva lasted that long- that is amazing! I can't imagine her all muddy either but it sounds cute.

Looks like a great time - inside and out! I love when the boys make rivers and such with the hose! Looks like Eva had a blast!
Ok - your idea book....do you just make things and place them in your idea book for future use? I am loving your ideas that you had captured already.

Michelle, I think you're on to something here...Eva at Jill's in the summer means more freedom. I, too, love hearing about your ideas and creative Friday projects.

Isn't it great when you are surprised by your kids in a good way? I'm so glad it was success. Emily and I are going to try to institute a creative day, and I'm wondering how it will go with kids. You've given me hope (even if it includes mud). I am loving your idea book. I always think I will just remember great things I see, but I never ever do.

wow what a fun day...i think sometimes that we are so used to our own routines, that we are afraid to venture out and be happily surprised...hopefully...I think kids attract kids, and then they justwant to be part of what is going on. Excellent idea to let her run with a diaper, sadly after a couple of dirty dresses....wow how fun...to bad jessie didn't join you all

That is great Eva did so well at Jill's. How nice that you two could get some things done.
