birthday celebration, continued

This week has brought more birthday surprises! I love it when the celebration continues into the next month...

My cousin Emily came to town bearing gifts from Denise and Grandma. Look at this pleasing pile of presents!

A very cool frame with label holders (I've never seen one like it!), a special towel which promises to make frizzy, coarse, difficult hair easier to style (oh yeah, baby), and bejeweled hair clips (just what I was wanting). They know me so well!

Tasha sent me a monogrammed towel!! I don't think you can fully appreciate how cute this towel is in the photos, but it is dang cute, folks. Also polka dot notecards, flowers, and scalloped paper strips. And did I mention she sent me a monogrammed towel?

Susan sent me a whole assortment of items that I like and that we share in common. Toile notecards, coconut/lime lotion, m&ms (holiday colors!), a pad for making lists, my favorite flavor of Crystal Light (I make a pitcher of it every day), ribbon, cute baking cups, and a tiny book for writing about books. I love it all.

And last night my book club met for my birthday party. These get-togethers are the best: delicious dinner and wonderful gifts! We had a great meal together, the best I've had in awhile now, since I've been so busy lately. (Honey mustard pork with apples, mashed potatoes, spinach salad, homemade rolls, and trifle for dessert.)

And I am the lucky recipient of another book club special: the birthday book! This year's was a survey of sorts -- 10 questions that each person answered about me. It's a cool twist on tradition, and so interesting to see what they think about me. It's heartwarming, and funny, and cute, all rolled into one fantabulous gift!

As if all that wasn't enough, Jenn and Amy surprised us by treating us all to a handmade, blank scrapbook for our Paris trip!

Of course they were wrapped up all cute, complete with pen and glue stick. The books include envelopes to hold souvenirs and miscellaneous travel ephemera, blank pages, and tabs to attach postcards or photos. Brilliant. I have been wondering what I could take to capture the memories without taking along a ton of supplies. Problem solved! We are so fortunate to benefit from their newfound bookbinding skills.

I am just feeling the love.

I am loving all of that pink and brown goodness Michelle! I looked at all of the pics of the birthday book in your gallery and I am in total awe. So much time, thoughtfulness and love was put into that project. I'm all about spreading the birthday celebration out for at least a whole month!

Hey, I meant to tell you that we intentionally left the price tag on that goofy hair towel thing so that you would know where to take it back if it ends up being stupid. The claims made on the packaging seem incredibly good! (Maybe too good to be true). So, no hard feelings if you want to find something else at BB&B--they're really nice about returns, even if you've already used it and didn't like it.
