tidbits

Jill stopped by on Saturday and it seems she never comes to my house without bringing me something. This time it was some of Amie's delicious gooey chex mix, the white chocolate/raspberry/macadamia nut bread her friend brought her (she knew I would enjoy it and it was very good), and of course she always keeps me well supplied with ripe bananas. I'm not sure why she keeps buying too many bananas, but it keeps us in muffins so why would I complain?

This is the face of doing homework these days. It's one of those things that makes me feel old. When I went to COLLEGE, I had a word processor. The internet didn't even exist yet. Now my eleven year old does a lot of his homework online. Who could have known?

Jessie sent me this good mail. I love it all, but especially the fridge-ready quote with magnets on the back. It's now hanging on the fridge for daily inspiration.

This is a common sight in our home. Every time we get groceries, Eva gets one of these balloons. They don't put hi-float in them, so they're usually on the floor the next day, but she still likes to play with them. In fact, there's one on her bedroom floor behind the crib right now that she likes to say goodnight to before bed. If only I received as much affection from her as all the inanimate objects she showers it on...

My mom was trying to find a way to get this dresser to me for ages, and thanks to a surprise visit she received from my aunt & uncle who brought it back in their trailer, I now have it! I finally brought it up from the garage and installed it in Eva's nursery. It fits much better than I thought it would -- I rearranged a few things and now it looks like it's always belonged there. Thanks, Mom, for giving me just about every cute thing I own!

And lastly, we had our primary program in sacrament meeting yesterday. I think it was the first time that Lucas spoke into the microphone sounding so articulate and grown-up (thank heavens for speech therapy!). Unbelievably, it was Max's last time to participate in a primary program ever. He will turn 12 before next year's program. I figured out that he has been in 9 of these annual productions, and it made me not a little sad to think that it was his last...

I love your dresser. It looks so cute in Eva's room.

We too have a balloon a week from our grocery store. The sad thing is now my kids expect it every time they go.

Your ripe bananas remind me that I need to make some of my bread since mine are causing fruit flies on my counter--hate those!

We too had our primary program yesterday. Theres nothing like your kids growing up--doesn't it make you feel so old? I feel the same way :)

What a surprise to finally get the dresser. It's very cute. What I would give to actually have furniture.

That's crazy to think it's Max's last year. I would be sad as well. I was so sad to have missed our this year. I love the primary program. Of course I bet Max is so excited to finally be going YM.

I miss watching the primary programs! (But I'm sure glad I'm not in them any more--that seems like so long ago!) That's so weird for me to think that Max will be a deacon--he perpetually stuck as an 8 year old in my brain, but I'm sure he's excited to be growing up!

The dresser is perfect- I am envious of both Eva and Bella's rooms.

Love that you took a picture of the balloon- how would it be to get such delight again from something so simple?

I didn't realize Max was almost 12- it seems impossible to think of Mya being 12!

That dresser with those mirrors is darn cute! What pure fun to have.

Wow. It's weird to think there are only 9 primary programs before a child moves on to the youth program. It makes me feel like it must really go by fast.

STOP! You and Jill are making me crazy to have some of that Chex mix!! I can't quite believe that Max will soon be a Deacon. John was so glad to not have to participate in the Primary program this year. He's always been tall for his age, and he stood at least 1-2 heads taller than every other kid.

I can't stand how cute that dresser it!

what a marvelous mum you have...so thoughtful. I think it looks beautiful and the decor is breathtaking. Gosh I am so happy on how "kids" rooms are now days...it used to be soo boring before..."well not me, I always had a fairy tail room" being the only girl among 5 brothers.... so sad to hear of the changes when the boys grow up...I was just thinking that a 10 year old block often changes everything in a young family...the kids are not kids anymore...it is just eye opening...thnks for a great post!

Eva's nursery is PAINFULly cute! My poor kids and their plain white walls, now gray from fingerprints and crayon...

Crazy that Max was in his last program! Ours was three Sundays ago and it went great, with all the glitches parents love and forgive because it's their kids!

That dresser is gorgeous, Eva's entire room is pretty much my dream boudoir at this point.

It freaks me out that Max uses the internet for his homework. What happened to going to the library and sifting through encyclopedias and a gazillion books to write a paper? Apparently that was back in the 80's. Lame.

I don't want to freak you out, but your oldest child is getting old and is going to be in Young Men's next year! Yikes!

Oh, my, that dresser is so dang cute. I want to see how it fits into the rest of Eva's beautiful room! It's so cool that your mom would even think of giving you a dresser considering how far away she lives from you!

It's crazy how much the Internet has changed out lives. When I started college I had a laptop, but it was huge! I think I was the first freshman class at BYU to automatically receive email addresses, but we didn't have easy access from our dorm rooms. I still used the library all the time. By the time I graduated 4 1/2 years later, I couldn't live without the Internet. I did a lot of research online and hardly ever used the library. And these days, as we all know, it's even more of an integral part of our lives. I think it's so cool!

Wow, Max's last program! That is a milestone, and I can understand you being more than a little sad about it! Congratualtions to Lucas on his good job, too. Although milestones like that are wonderful, I really hate having such constant reminders of time passing in my children's lives.
