About a year ago I picked up the book "SHE" by Kobi Yamada. Inside is a sentence that has changed my life. I think about it every single day:How cool is that? I want to design a life I love! I mean, I do love my life in many ways, but I think I could love it even more. And the idea of designing it to be the way I want to -- not exactly revolutionary, but quite often I think I just let life come at me. I love the thought of taking a more active role, deciding to really make the things happen that will bring me more happiness and allow me to LOVE my life, not just love it.
"She designed a life she loved."
To me, this statement is about choices. It doesn't say anything about her circumstances, her strengths or weaknesses. It doesn't mention her challenges or her triumphs -- only the fact that she made a decision. That her life was HERs and she knew that it was too precious, too short and too wonderful not to LOVE.
Just that one line totally makes me want to pick up that book. (And for you fellow scrapbookers, how cool is it to know where Heidi's signature "she" came from? And is it a little disturbing that I think of her and others as if I know them on a first-name basis?)

wow that is a wonderful quote! I love it too! I love the insights you have on it, and I am thankful for your wisdom as it is very true, how much do we really LOVE our lives and how happy are we really? Are we really? content, happy, or excited? good questions and definately good contemplation on one's life. I often hear, "do what you like and you will be very happy." Is this somewhat true from the parable of the talents?
I love this Michelle. I totally need this right now too. Too often I feel I'm just going with the flow instead of making my life my own. Letting everything around me dictate what needs to be done. Wow...I'm putting this on my board so I can see it everyday and remember my life is what I make it and if I'm unsatisfied there's only me to blame. Thanks.
BTW your links look great. Glad it worked.
ok, i am so behind on blog reading with my trip last weekend.
i love catching up on your posts.
love the one on your hands, michelle it is incredible and I may have to post about my hands someday.

the jornals are amazing!!!
you have been a nice little inspiration to me today and i am avoiding waking my kids up for school.... have a great day.
That is a cool quote. Thanks for the insight I needed that today :)
I really like that quote too.
That quote is so cool! I love how it puts our happiness directly in our control. I mean, I've always known that happiness is mine for the taking, but when put in the context of "designing a life I love," it has whole new meaning. Wow!! Thanks for sharing Michelle!
You are so full of goodness lately. What a great quote and your insight on it is fantastic! I seriously need to display this somewhere as a reminder. Thanks Michelle!
I am printing that right now! I may print it twice or even five times to put it in every room of my house. I am SO glad you plagerized! It is perfect inspiration!
That's a very cool quote, it makes me want to get the book too. I'm realizing more and more that I pick and choose which aspects of my life I can be in charge of, and then act like a victim or bystander for the others. It sounds like I need to have a meeting with myself to figure things out and make some changes.
P.S. I know you've been tossing around the notion of starting up your art journal again. It looks like you've found the perfect quote to start with!
this is such a great quote! cristin posted some quotes from this book that i loved too. i am going to pick it up! i read another book at the beginning of the summer that inspired me in a similar way. it's called as a man thinketh by james allen. it's so empowering to realize that we can really make our lives what we want them to be in spite of circumstances we may have to manage. great post!
It is a great quote. I think there are some other products available (not Heidi Swapp products) that are related to the book she talks about.
It is such an amazing concept--to create a life we love. It's such a hard thing to do, because it involves being able to recognize the things that we can't change and incorporate them happily (if they are unhappy things) into our lives. This is difficult becasue many people have the tendency to rail against the unchangeable things and spend all of our time wishing things were different. This behavior is not conducive to happiness, nor will it lead to the ability to design a life that we love. But, really, isn't that why we're here, to find what makes us truly happy and enjoy life to the fullest?
