Happy Halloween!

I got this postcard from Tasha yesterday and I love it so! It captures my Halloween sensibilities quite well. I haven't had the good fortune to meet Tasha yet, but I just know we're kindred spirits...

I like Halloween even better now that I have these cute decorations, courtesy of my mom
(of course).

I've decided that everything is improved by a little glitter. Add some text paper and you're really onto something...

And who knew skeletons could be so cute?

Last night we carved more pumpkins for family night. Lucas is so pleased with himself now that he can carve his own. I love the concentration. Tonight I will try to capture a picture of the glowing jack-o-lanterns, although those photos always turn out blurry for me (please give me advice if you have it).

This morning we went to the school to hear Lucas sing in the school choir for the first time. I have tried many times to no avail to get my kids to join the school choir because I have always loved to sing so much. Sadly they don't share that love. But somehow, Lucas was persuaded to join by two of his friends. Positive peer pressure at work! They sang the This is Halloween song from The Nightmare Before Christmas (one of our all-time favorite movies). It was adorable, especially when they all screamed at the end and cackled. And, unlike the Primary programs, Lucas actually sang all the words! It was a proud moment for me.

I dressed Eva in her witch costume to watch the costume parade, and although I bought her costume a month ago and we've been practicing wearing the witch hat around the house ever since, she is now refusing to wear it -- not even for a second. In fact, she screams if I even get the hat near her. Sigh. A witch costume just is not the same without a hat...

I'm off to make dinner for tonight and clean up my house before my piano lessons start and the grandparents come to take pictures. Happy haunting!

I love the card and the decorations your mom sent. She truly has the best taste. I can't wait to see Eva in her little witch costume. Eva and Bella will have so much fun trick-or-treating tonight.
I too was in the school choir, I hope my kids are in it too, at least Kira. She already loves to sing, so there's good hope.
Happy Halloween!!!!

I love decorations in my house as well, but I have to say I was happy to put them away for another year tonight. I have birthday decorations up now!!

I hear ya on costume accessories we had issues tonight as well. Bummer about the hat I know, the witch is not a witch without a hat ")

It took me awhile to find Lucas in that class picture, and I even know what his costume looked like! I guess the glasses really threw me off or something.

I love all the cool decorations you have in your house, your mom is the source of all style and generosity.

You are a good mom to carve pumpkins two days in a row. One evening was enough for me.
