etc.

Just a few thoughts:
  • My cute neighbor Traci brought me these flowers today. They were left over from her daughter's wedding yesterday, and she had to return the vases and didn't want to just throw all the beautiful flowers away. Woohoo! She is like our resident Martha Stewart, her house looks like a Pottery Barn catalog, she looks like she stepped out of a Ralph Lauren catalog, and so do all of her beautiful children. Anyway, now I have a beautiful bouquet of flowers on my table for no reason! I love it.
  • Marc and I watched the season premiere of Veronica Mars tonight. So enjoyable. My favorite line had to be "What the frac?" (the swear word of the future, according to Battlestar Galactica fans...)
  • Have you been watching Studio 60? I think it's my favorite new show this fall. So intelligent. You gotta love that Aaron Sorkin. After we watch it, Marc and I just look at each other with a look of amazement that says: "oh yeah, that's good TV!".
  • We had the pinewood derby this week for cub scouts. One of my boys couldn't make it, so he asked Lucas if he would like to race his car by proxy. Lucas could not have been more excited, as he will not be in cub scouts until next summer. It cracks me up that they stopped announcing the winners of each heat in order to decrease the competitive feel. As if the boys and their dads aren't keeping track themselves! But a good time was had by all. Our cubmaster makes these cute stands for each boy to display the cars, and he puts a gold foil label on with the boy's name and an award, like most aerodynamic, or most creative, etc.
  • I installed a shelf in my scrap room today. I had painted it black and was so excited to get it hung. Unfortunately, I have dumb paneling in that room and it is hard to hang things because the walls are essentially hollow. Marc was at work, so I was on my own. I used those heavy-duty anchors that spring open on the inside of the wall. It was nearly impossible to do, given the space restrictions I was working with. I finally did get it hung, but it is kind of crooked, despite my careful measuring, and there is no way on earth I'm going to be able to redo it. Oh well.
  • We had parent-teacher conferences tonight, and the accompanying book fair. I love it that my kids get so excited about getting a new book! Well, who wouldn't? Also, Max's teacher told us that he is going to be starting a chess club later this month. Max will be thrilled to no end.
  • Eva came up to me, felt my stubbly legs, and said, "uh-oh!". I kid you not. Is this what I have to look forward to with a girl? Sheesh! Also, at dinnertime I asked her if she could say please, and she said with no hesitation, "no!". Uh-oh.
**Jill: I fixed my links tonight, but have you got any idea how to get rid of the bullets in front of them? It's annoying!**

Those flowers are so beautiful! I love buying flowers for no reason other than they just make me happy. Love that they were free!

I hate hanging shelves and whatnot by myself because I know Linc could do it better, which is so frustrating! You are a trooper for going at it alone- I think I would have given in to self defeat early on.

I enjoy your little Eva stories- the stubbly leg comment is great.

Uh-oh stubbly legs? How can you stand it? Eva's too funny.

I want to see a picture of your crooked shelf. You've been making improvements in your room and organizing like crazy so I want to see the results.

Those flowers are gorgeous, Tracy is a great neighbor. Did she seem okay about the wedding?

Sorry, I don't know how to get rid of the bullet points on your links.

Those flowers are gorgeous! I was thinking how I need to get some for my table as well. Bonus for free ones.

I actually have been watching studio 60. I too have enjoyed it, but since I am on the couch I have been falling asleep for the last thirty minutes of it ahh!

Love the stubby legs comment. If you want to get rid of the bullet points on your side bar you need to delete [li] in your html gargon. It is normally in front of all the names/websites you have. Hope that helps! Okay it won't let me type in the code you need to delete so you can email me if you have questions. Dumb blogger anyway!

Oh gosh, your daughter is starting to judge you and shes not even two yet! I though that wasn't supposed to start until they turned 15! You're in for some trouble! ;0

Beautiful flowers! Is the neighbor who you were supposedly making cakes for? If she's your neighborhood's Martha Stewart no wonder Marc thought it sounded suspicious! It was nice of her to think of you.

OK, Michelle, how can you say you've been doing things to your craft room and not post pictures? You know we're all junkies for pictures of eachother's houses. I hope you'll put some up soon! I'm impressed that you actually hung a shelf for yourself. The other day I came to the conclusion that I need to buck up and hang some things on my own. I have curtains for Alexander's room that are still in an unopenend Land of Nod box in my library and tons of pictures that we took down in March when we had the house painted and have never rehung. My Dad's coming this week. . .maybe I won't have to do it all by myself!

I forgot to mention that Randy and I watched the 3 recorded episodes of Studio 60 last night and are completely hooked. I love it when there's a good new show in the fall, and this one is something different for a change (not a hospital or law office). Nice.

I love your comment from Eva. Just wait, my oldest has been giving me fashion advice for years now and she is not quite seven! Girls are so funny!

Ok, so tell me what this Studio 60 is about in a brief synopsis.

We are always on the look-out for a new good show. :)

Dana, Studio 60 is about a show that seems very similar to Saturday Night Live. The show has gone way downhill and so the new president of the network (Amanda Peet) decides to hire back an outstanding duo that worked on the show four years before (Bradley Whitford and Matthew Perry). The team is great, but they have some conflicts with the previous writers.

Excellent cast, great intelligent writing. Check it out! Especially if you can find repeats of the episodes that have aired so far (3). In one of them (the pilot?) they have the cast do a spoof of H.M.S. Pinafore that is hilarious.

I love that your neighbor brought the flowers over. I love flowers on the table but hate paying for them.

I would love to see pictures of your craft room too. I can stand in Jill's and stare forever, I'm sure yours is the same way.

Oh my goodness Eva cracks me up... you gotta love little girls.

I love fall for the TV premires. Lost was on last night and we all just loved it. I need to watch Veronica Mars. It does come on after GG so I don't know why I didn't.

I love your flowers. It makes such a world of difference to have pretty flowers on your table.

I am so impressed with the shelf.. what a brave woman, I would've waited for Lou to hang it up for me.

Those flowers are so pretty and it's such a treat to have fresh flowers in the house and even sweeter that you didn't have to buy them.

I quite enjoyed Veronica Mars last night, it makes me want to go out and buy the last 2 seasons. I love Studio 60, what great writing.

I LOVE Studio 60! It is one of my FAVORITES! Its such smart comedy and I think its important comedy too, very timely without being overly "statement"-centered.

When my legs are hairy, Evie will sit and run her fingers back and forth, so as to figuratively "run her fingers through" it. Its like the hair is so long its soothing to her. Either she is totally wacko, or I am even more unkempt that I think...don't tell me which one.
