at peace

I've had such a peaceful weekend. Yesterday Lucas was gone all day to Boondock's with Landon. In the afternoon, Marc went to a rehearsal for his jazz ensemble, Max went to play with a friend, and Eva went down for a nap. I enjoyed some blogging time, then I secluded myself in the garage to work on painting the table Timm made for my scrapbook room. (He brought it to me a couple of weeks ago, but I had to wait until payday to get some primer.) Anyway, I ended up having a nice long chat with Jill, and I got a coat of primer and a coat of paint done. Ah, sweet solitude!

Today we went to watch stake/regional conference at 9:00 a.m. For those of you in our region, what did you think? One thing that jumped out at me was Elder Wirthlin's line about most of the work done in this world being done by people who don't feel well. Interesting. I have already discovered that I can do a whole lot while being very very tired. I may not really want to, I may not like it, but it can be done. Now I may have to think about not feeling well in the same way. And, of course, President Monson's talk about getting our "houses" in order had a lot of good food for thought. We watched the satellite feed in our ward building and they had the R.S. room set aside for families with young children (gotta love those comfy seats!). We sat in the front row so Eva could wander around a bit. It worked like a charm -- we never even had to take her out!

How I love morning church. I had almost forgotton how much I love it -- getting home at noon (11:00 today!) and having all the rest of the day. It's a little bit of heaven. Marc and I both had naps today, at different times. I used the black bananas Jill brought me and made a double batch of my kids' favorite banana/chocolate chip muffins. I turned on The 12 Dancing Princesses for Eva. (She was completely entranced.) She got a hold of the heels I wore today and actually managed to walk around in them! I guess if the motivation is strong enough... Marc was reading The New York Times, and the boys were playing together. I made a really good dinner, made a little progress on the book I started on Friday, and looked through a couple of magazines. Today, filled with lots of good family time, was the perfect counterpoint to yesterday's delicious solitude. And Marc is making his famous peanut butter chocolate chip cookies as I type. That's a near-perfect day in my book.

This evening Lucas and I went out on the deck to read a chapter of Harry Potter. The light on the mountains was just perfect, that rosy glow that always lifts my spirits. There was a glorious breeze, and for the first time all day, I wasn't the tinist bit hot. (I'd been standing in front of a hot stove and oven, you know.) Lucas, however, thought it was cold. He actually said he was cold. I couldn't wrap my mind around it. I convinced him to stay out there by getting him to wrap up in a blanket, so we could both be at the perfect temperature.

Tomorrow's the big day when Max goes to the dentist for his extractions. We'll see if he ends up getting 4 or 8 pulled tomorrow. Wish us luck!

That is the cutest picture of your son wrapped up in the blanket.

What a wonderful weekend. That sounds like a perfect weekend to me too.

Enjoy those beautiful mountains for me! I wish I could live in Utah if just this month and next. It's gorgeous!

Good luck tomorrow.

Sounds like a wonderful weekend. It is so nice when the weekend justs flows into a nice relaxing time. I always wonder why some weekends are like that while others are difficult. I enjoy reading your blog. I was wondering why you are going to Paris for so long? How exciting!

Oh what nice thoughts...your boy looks so cute! I was just thinking of all the things you did today and what an accomplishment and family togetherness. I haven't baked anything in a very long time. This Sunday was calming (usually we are out and about visiting family/friends or going to the beach to see the sunset...)good luck tomorrow! Everything will be fine

I'm glad your weekend was so blissful, that's such a nice contrast to all the illness and sleepless you've been surrounded by lately.

I thought the conference was really good (I took 7 pages of notes) and loved the part when President Monson said, "You can't fool the Lord."

I took a 4 hour nap today and was still awake by 3:30, that's just plain crazy.

What a wonderful weekend. I love Sunday naps- one of those perks for the day. Glad you finally were able to relax a little and get a break from smotherhood.

I enjoyed conference too and enjoyed President Monson's cute personality - he did seem VERY relaxed.

It sounds like you had a great day! The day did feel SO long, home at 11:00 is a good plan.

Your family is so cute. I love reading about them.

I enoyed the Regional Coference as well, although my kids weren't as good as it seems like Eva was.

Good luck at the dentist, I hope Max does ok.

I'm so glad your blog is back, did you get all the computer problems fixed?

Your weekend sounds heavenly! Be sure to show pictures of the table when you are done with it!

Evie is totally into my shoes right now, she actually put a pair of my heels on on Sunday and said "go mamma" and tried to walk out the door like that. It was a big rockin tantrum when I told her that I needed those shoes...

I love the picture of Lucas in the blanket.
Will you please post or email me the banana choc chip muffin recipe? That sounds great!

What a great weekend, I too love morning church, except when my alarm goes off and my battle begins...how much time do I really need to get ready, do I need to eat breakfast, is it a hair wash day, just five more minutes of sleep...it's an endless battle, but I always feel better once I get up and get going.

I heard from several people that that conference was wonderful and that Pres. Monson was in rare form and so much more personable than usual, what a treat.

my sympathies go out to Max. Teeth pulling can be an interesting experience. Warn him against eating foods that break up into sharp pieces, like potato chips, for a while.

I really liked the conference as well. President Monson's talk was the same he gave at our regional conference back in Colorado, but it was still so good! It was really neat for me this time though because I actually went to the Marriott Center and got to see him speak instead of last time when I watched the broadcast from the stake center. I definitely enjoyed regional conference--especially the getting home by 11 plan!

Okay, Lucas, I can totally relate! I've been known to wrap up in a blanket when no one else is the least bit chilly! You look way too cute, cute, cute, cute, really cute, CUTE! I love you,
