I've discovered that not blogging for awhile is sort of like missing church a couple of times in a row -- I can see how easy it could be to become inactive. Weird. I know it's my blog and I can post as frequently or infrequently as I want, but I don't love being offline for days on end...
Anyway, here's what I've been up to of late. On Thursday night I went with Jill and Jenn out to Lisa's in for an informal Stampin' Up party. We got a tour of Lisa's new home, ate her delicious strawberry cake, and got giddy over all the new stamps. (Lisa, your house is beautiful, but we did kind of feel like we were headed to Vegas!) We were having so much fun, I didn't get home until 1:45. Then I had to stay up until 3:00 sewing patches on Max's scout shirt. Good grief.
Early Friday morning, Max headed out to his first overnight Scout camp. I was so relieved that he didn't have to carry this backpack on his five-mile hike, he was staggering just on the way to the car! I thought about him all Friday and Saturday, wondering how he was faring during his first real wilderness experience. He came home yesterday evening, very tired and very dirty, but I think he had a good time.
Jill came over on Friday. I didn't know how well I would do after having only 3 hours of sleep, but I managed to have a catnap when Eva napped. It salvaged the day to have Jill come and to have the rest of the day dedicated to fun stuff. Jill made the cutest cards ever, she even did some sewing! She has this amazing old Viking machine, I love it. I didn't actually create anything new, just wrote out a few thank you notes. So, not fulfilling creatively, but probably all I had in me for that day.
I don't know where yesterday went. I did a little laundry, watered the lawn, got some groceries, and organized some digital photos on my computer. I did some organizing work in my scrap room for about an hour, but other than that, the time just seemed to slip away. I hate it when that happens. Well, I'm off to give Eva a bath and get everyone ready for church so I don't feel inactive in more ways than one...

I hate it when you're blog inactive too, and am always trying to figure out what you're so busy doing that you can't get on the computer.
Max looks so cute (and young) in his scout uniform and with that enormous backpack. Did he have a good experience camping?
That close-up of my fingers is pretty cool, though I don't think they look like my fingers, weird.
Welcome back!
I can't believe that you have a son old enough to go on scout overnighters.
I'm glad that the 3 of you had fun. It's always nice to get a little break out of the house.
hooray for scouts! our stake just went to colorado to climb Mt. Harvard a 14,000 ft peak and go river rafting on the arkansas river. that was actually before charleston. i only had to carry 2 days worth of stuff but i had to carry a tent, food, extra clothes, a really light sleeping pad and bag and i brought my 1975 vintage minolta SLR camera. it was really fun although dad's back didn't agree. we actually just had the 11 year old scouts come on our last campout. they had fun with the fire and snipe hunting.
Tell me about it! It sounds like you've had a busy few days, though, so I hope you feel like you got a lot done.
Ah, the scouting overnighter. I hope the boys in your ward are better than the boys in my ward growing up. It seemed like our boys were always on the verge of being thrown out. What is it about packs of boys?
I also hate your inactivity. Although, there seems to be some kind of bug lately, so don't feel too bad.
It sounds like you had a fun end of week and were crazy busy. I really am thinking of instituting a Friday Craft Day at my house. It sounds like y'all have a great time.
I'm definitely not a fan of inactivity! I'm at work a lot and so checking blogs is a frequent activity for me when things slow down; when you and Jessie are AWOL I don't know what to do with myself!
M-I totally agree on the inactivity thing. I have so much to catch up on now that I feel overwhelmed...same as with spirituality or journal writing...
Come back!
Tasha
Glad you are back! I like the pictures of Jill sewing, the fingers one is cool. It makes me want to dig out my machine.
Yes, we miss you too! Dad is even more stressed about it that I am! I have been busy catching up with the rug-cutter and badger man (two of my most intense and stressful design clients, who are also most urgent!) do Dad has been filling me in that there's no need to check blogs! We miss the updates. The photo of Max is soooooo cute! Now I need a phone call with a personal review of how it all went, food and all! Sounds like you had fun with Jill and I know how painful sewing patches on uniforms are, but at that time of morning, even WORSE!!! That could be a grandma thing when I retire--will Max even be in scouts when I retire?? Oh , dee.
Max looks so grown up, I bet he had a great time and I bet he was equally glad to be home again.
I miss hearing from my blogging friends when they are absent.
I'm glad that you and Jill were able to have a fun, relaxing semi-creative day. I'm jealous of your trip out to Lisa's, what fun.
what that viking machine is Jill's
those black ones are collectors items and vikings are amazing!
how fun to still get together even if you are tired!
hey did jessie get that job or is she just not posting?
I have felt in inactivity pull too when I have taken a few days off. But luckily it only takes one post to make me want to do it again. I have also reread my archives to make me know I have to keep going. This is the best journal I have had in a really long time.
Fun pictures...Max does look too young for that!
