great day with Jill

Pirates, a yummy lunch, shopping, a caramel praline shake, and finally getting to be with my best friend after almost one month. Come on! Now you have the makings of a great day.

Everything just worked out today. A friend in my ward offered to take Eva for the day, which was a huge relief. I wasn't sure I had a babysitter who could handle taking care of a sick baby for 8 hours! This friend has four older children who all love Eva and they just played with her and took her for walks and let her climb the stairs all day long. Fortunately, Eva is feeling a lot better now that she's on antibiotics, too (we found out she has a UTI). She only slept for a total of 45 minutes today, so I put her right to bed at 7:00. Bonus! Another friend took my boys all day. In Max's words, they had "loads of fun". Well, so did I!

I dropped Eva off at 9:30, Jill arrived shortly thereafter, and we headed off for the 10:00 show of Pirates. We feared it would be sold out, but it wasn't and we walked in just as it was starting. We were lucky to find two seats together at the top corner of the theater. It was so fun to get popcorn -- I never get popcorn when I go to movies with Marc because 1) he doesn't like it, and 2) he thinks it is annoyingly loud movie theater food (he prefers the nice quiet ice cream bars they sell in French movie theaters). But I digress...

I absolutely LOVED this movie!! It's possible that I even liked it better than the first one, which was a whole lot. I can't wait for Max to see it now. What a very cool idea to have Davy Jones and his accursed crew -- and they executed it so well. Who in the world thought up those men with barnacles growing on their heads and becoming creatures of the sea themselves? I loved it. And can someone please explain to me how Johnny Depp can manage to be so damn sexy, even when he is made up as a skanky pirate complete with moustache, braided/beaded goatee, black eye makeup, icky teeth, and filthy clothes? Not to mention the way he prances around. Apparently he has so much charisma that nothing can overshadow it.

After the movie, we headed to the Art City Trolley in Springville for lunch (yum) and some much-needed catching up and conversation. Round that off with a visit to Croppin' Paradise for some of our traditional birthday shopping and a caramel-praline shake from Iceberg. I told you it was a great day!

How fun to have a 8 hour day with your b/f!! I would have to agree that I too could eat Johnny Depp up. For some reason I love the accent he uses in the movie. I have heard mixed reviews on it, but would love to see it. We own the 1st one and watch it all the time!!

It was a perfect day. I'm so glad the child-care situation worked out so splendidly, I really didn't know if we'd end up getting to be out all day or not. I loved the movie, the lunch, the shopping, the shake, the conversation, and especially how retarded we were as we tried to take a picture of ourselves in the CP parking lot. Too funny.
