some random thoughts

First of all, why am I cursed with this skin that is so hyper-prone to sunburn? I slather on the 45 sunblock. My kids come through unscathed, and yet I can't seem to ever go swimming without getting fried. Yesterday was, of course, no different. Now I can't take a shower or put on a bra without pain. And do you want to know the worst part? I made a comment last night in passing about how I sure hope I don't end up with skin cancer, with all the bad sunburns I've had in my life. Well, Lucas picked right up on that, and with a look of utmost concern drilled me about what cancer is, how one gets it, if you die from it, how do you get diseases, etc. etc. Good grief. Now I'm not only ruining my skin, I'm making it impossible for my child to get a good night's sleep for worrying about me dying. Did I mention that I use 45 sunblock??

Are you watching So You Think You Can Dance? If not, you are seriously missing out on some good TV. Of course, it's better if you've been with it since the beginning audition phase, but... all I can say is wow. Even though I have a ton of stuff to do right now to get ready for Max's birthday and our trip this weekend, I had to sit and watch it last night with no interruptions. I was so energized afterwards that I was online for two hours fixing my blog and getting caught up. THEN when Marc got home from his video game night at 12:00, I watched it with him again (it was a 2 hour show!) even though I was tired, because I couldn't resist. That's how good it is. Tonight was the results show and the worst couple, by far -- I'm talking not even in the same league as the others -- was not even in the bottom three! This has the power to rile me up to heights of righteous indignation that I can't even admit to. It's just too embarrassing. Sending Jason home was a crime. If you do watch the show, let me know what you think.

And finally, Eva is in a new phase of hiding. If things are seeming too quiet and I search her out, she will often quickly do a nose-dive, as if to keep me from seeing what she was up to. What's up with that? How does she know at such a tender age to try to cover up her behavior? Is this indicative of what I have to look forward to in the future? Sheesh. Once I caught her carrying around some hand-made cards, and I told her no (not in a frantic way). She immediately flattened herself on the ground on top of them. So, evidently she knows she was not supposed to have those, but she is only concerned about getting caught. She's just barely one, folks! Today I walked into my room, looking for her, and she tried to throw herself under my bed. For all I could tell, she wasn't even doing anything clandestine. It's both hilarious and frightening, simultaneously.

And that's about it for tonight...

how funny that she was doing that! I think they are way smarter than what we were at their age! I have a pot out on my deck and Jorvik 10 1/2 mo...loves to go and dig in the dirt! each time I catch him and bring him back, he crawls as fast as he can and goes at it again! I haven't seen that show...but sounds like I could use a good laugh....

I am still laughing thinking about Eva doing that! How stealthy!
So sorry about your burn- aloe always helps me not to burn when my skin is a little red, but I am not prone to the burn though. I hope it gets better soon and Lucas forgets about it :(
What kind of dancing is on that show? It sounds interesting for sure!

I got such a kick out of eva hiding. Though I can see what you mean about it being frightening.

I can't believe you are getting burned with 45 on. amazing. So sorry about that. Keep yourself lathered. It should only be irritating for a few days...I suppose until it starts to peel.

Hannah, they have all types of ballroom, modern, jazz, hip hop, pop, they even had a krump routine this week! What makes it so fun is that the contestants have to draw out of a hat to find out what style of dance they will have to perform for the next week. So you get a modern dancer who has to do the tango, or a ballroom specialist dancing hip-hop. Sometimes they shock everyone, and sometimes they really blow it. Some of the choreographers are pretty amazing, too.

Wow--that must be some kind of fantastic show! I may have to give it a try, as I am floundering without Idol, 24, and Gilmore Girls to keep me going. (How lame does that make my life sound?) I have started watching the first season of Lost on DVD and am enjoying that, thanks to Netflix.

Eva cracks me up! That's just what she did when you were visiting in May--remember when she had the toy she thought Bella wanted and took a nose dive under the wing-backed chair to "hide" from her cousin? Too funny.

I'm as excited to see the babies as I am to see to beach! Can't wait to love on them.

That IS what Eva did in Denver! That was too funny- i had forgotten about that. Can't wait to see it in person, although I can see why it would frighten you. You're crazy about that show. i've never really given it a chance, and I think it's because I fear I won't know if they really suck. Like Idol, I can tell if they can't sing, but I don't know much about dancing, so I think I would jusy think, "Yeah, they looked pretty good." regardless. When Dancing with the Stars was on I thought it was the most boring show EVER. Is it better than that?

Uh, yeah. It's better than Dancing With the Stars. I can't even believe you asked that! We're talking about actual dancers here, not dumb celebrities trying to dance...

I'm laughing out loud at Eva's evasive manuvering. How funny is she!

They know what they are not supposed to be doing! I keep telling myself that I will save the word "no" for true emergencies, but I would consider the ruin of handmade cards right up there with running in the street...

So funny Michelle. As you know I love the random thoughts. I can't help but laugh at the thought of Eva belly flopping on the cards...too funny!

Eva is hilarious and just think how much fun you can have remembering these things when she's older. I wonder if she knows how adorable she can be?
