it seemed like a good idea...

Well, I thought it was a good plan, anyway.
I actually bought this product last year, but forgot to ever use it. So a few days ago, I decided to give it a try -- I was housebound with sick kids and I needed a lift. It dries in 5 minutes, so you can get dressed right away, and that's a definite bonus for me. Plus, I had read that this foam type gives the most subtle color. Anyway, I was rather pleased with the results. Just a nice glow, not too orange-y, not too fake-y. Well, who should come to the door later that day but Jill, dropping off some Costco croissants for the boys (thanks, Jill!)? She immediately asked if I had used a self-tanner. ???? Great. So it's that obvious? That kinda defeats the purpose, doesn't it? Oh well. I guess it's still better than being pasty white...

I have tried a few different ones and always get the same reaction as you did- Oh well! They must work for some people and look natural, otherwise who would keep buying them? I don't think there is anything wrong with being pasty white. I have never had that luxury, but it doesn't hurt my eyes to see pasty white people, so it is all good:)

Don't give up on it just because I noticed you looked a little tan! Wouldn't you have been bummed if you had still looked winter white? I didn't say anything bad about it. It was subtle, just something I noticed. Don't be crazy.

I love the self tanners and I didn't care if I was orangey, that was better than being ghost like. I liked the neutrogena brand and ban de soliel ( I murdered that spelling, sorry). Last summer I started to booth it for the first time in over 15 years. I love it and am doing it again, skin cancer be damned!

I used to care about the fact that my legs could glow in the dark, but during a Young Women lesson I realized that if the temple can be white, so can my legs. Besides, sunless tanners are smelly and inconvenient, and the last time I tried to acheive a tan the natural way, I ended up with lobster-red legs for over 3 months. I'm happy, and that's all that matters when it comes to my legs.

I have tried MANY a self-tanner and I could probably write an article on it. Unlike Emily, I am not ok with my legs being sparkling white like the temple, which believe me, they ARE come the first of spring.

Neutrogena is defintely the best. If you buy the light one it is usually very subtle, but make sure you get the face one for the face and use the foam for the body.

I also like this Coppertone one that you bought but found that it runs out pretty quickly. The Neutrogena foam lasts a long time.

I personally think the self-tanner is a great alternative to skin damage which I have plenty of already! Happy Summer!

Like Emily, I am okay with my pasty skin. (I am acutally more white than Emily!) Hey, if I had lived in the South a few decades ago, my skin would be revered! I like to think of it as "milky white" instead of pasty.

Only Jill would know since she sees you so often!

Funny. I have a bottle of sunless tanning cream I bought last year and never used it. i think I am afraid since I've heard of so many horror stories. Perhaps I will try though.

Make sure to keep in my Jill sees you all the time so she would probably be more able to notice a difference.

Look at it this way, at least it goes away. I always get fried in the summer looking for that perfect tan and regretting every moment of it. Once again, I got fried on Friday at the local waterpark, so I have this ridiculous red neck/chest w/ a hysterical white handmark (where my girlfriend put sunblock on my back). The point- to give you something else to laugh at... it can't be that bad. I agree w/Amy.. Jill sees you all the time.
