fun friday with jill

It seems like ages since Jill and I got together on a Friday to create something. In reality, it’s only been two weeks (last Friday she brought me lunch and helped me with some of my pre-trip preparations), but it felt like longer to me. I love that we set aside Friday to spend this time together. I look forward to it all week long. Not only do we work on projects and bounce ideas off each other, but it’s also a good chance to catch up with each other face-to-face. I think it’s good for our friendship, and I know it’s good for my mental health!

Today I made this book to function as my food journal. I will write down everything I eat and keep track of my exercise. I’m also going to stick in a weekly photo of myself with the hope that it will prove motivational. I tried something new (for me) with limited success: I punched a circle of blue cardstock and stamped my circle of dots on it with white Staz-On. Then I covered it with Diamond Glaze to give it an epoxy effect. It looked pretty cool until I picked it up to adhere it to my book. I thought I had let it dry for a long time, but maybe not long enough, because it got some cracks in it when I was handling it. I was kind of excited to use my new Heidi Swapp big flowers and a Making Memories velvet sticker.

I also took some cards I bought at Target and embellished them slightly so I can finally send out some overdue thank you notes. Jill made a huge stack of cards out of the cute cards and envelopes that Pam gave her from Paper Source and some Chatterbox paper. I love seeing all the cards she’s making and knowing that a lot of people will be receiving some good mail!

So even though we still have children to care for, we try to limit our mothering responsibilities on Friday as much as possible, we eat good food, we enjoy good company and conversation. Thanks, Jill, for being willing to haul your stuff over here every week!

The book turned out SO cute!!! What is that paper? I love it- different color combo for you with great results! I am jealous of your Fridays with Jill... I wish we had time set aside to let the babies play with each other etc!

What a darling book. You guys are creative crazy. I need to get together with some of my friends to do that. I can't even remember the last time my friends and I sat down to do fun craft stuff. I think it was in New Orleans on a scrapbook night. What did you do with your kids during it all? I think it would be a little crazy at my house if I did that. But what a fun therapeutic Friday thing to do!

Jenny, my two older kids are in school, so Jill's kids just play at my house and sometimes entertain my baby. The best is when the baby's napping. When the kids are out of school, then all the kids play together. We kind of let them do whatever they want (within reason!) on Fridays so they leave us alone as much as possible...

Your weight loss journal is so cute! Love the DCWV paper! (But you already knew that!) Isn't it nice to have a friend that you can spend so much time with and never get bored? For me that person is my sister. I love that we get along so well, and that our kids love to play with eachother. Of course, it her new possessive, "It's mine!" attitude persists, that may change.

The book turned out so well, and look at you being innovative and adventurous trying new things like the diamond glaze circle, very cool.

I am very thankful for our Friday gatherings and need them for therapy and for creativity. It's fortunate the kids get along so well and that we're so comfortable being at your house. Now if we could only get Landon to stop listening to our conversations...

love the book and the cards. That's such a great idea for embellishing pre-bought cards. I will have to steal that idea from you.
