catching up

The last couple of days have been so busy. The kind of busy when you don't even have time to blog -- not a good sign in my book. I've been running tons of errands, trying to get ready for Mother's Day, my dad's birthday, my father-in-law's birthday, and a spontaneous trip to Denver. Also trying to do some small celebratory things for Marc, even though a big celebration will have to wait until I get back from my trip. I put up this sign yesterday, made his favorite chocolate mousse (with the most wonderful chocolate he brought back from France), and ordered in Thai food. Plus, I greeted him at the door with a kiss. I never do that, but apparently it's his fondest wish.

In the week and a half since I got called to work with the Cub Scouts, I have attended one activity and three meetings. I hate meetings. Last night was Roundtable, by far the worst of the meetings. My leaders kept telling me how important it is to attend Roundtable, how useful, how you get all these great ideas... To be fair, maybe the one last night was an aberration, but it was just awful! They do a simulated pack meeting (as though attending one of those per month weren't bad enough...) and then breakout sessions according to the den you work with. (I'm a Bear, if you're interested.) I can honestly say that I left with absolutely no new information or ideas. Is it just because I have a bad attitude? In addition, the group of people assembled there from 7 stakes or so was about the most motley crew I have ever witnessed. I wonder if this is representative of cub scouting in general? The only good news: I discovered that the wearing of uniforms is optional (though you wouldn't have known it to look around the room) and I have asserted my absolute unwillingness to do so.

I went to Walmart on Wednesday to look for the cute peasant skirt that Jill got there. I found it, and several other things that I liked (sorry, Claudia!), plus some sandals for Eva. With any luck, I'll lose weight and so they won't have to hold beyond this season!

I got the cutest package from Jenn yesterday! I swear, the cards she comes up with make me want to swear off card-making forever. So cute! So original! And these cute chipboard letters, to boot. I was so weary and in need of a pick-me-up. Thanks, Jenn!

One other thing that lifts my spirits: my viburnum just started to bloom! I love these bushes so much -- they make everything look nicer, even our hideously dog-destroyed backyard. And at least I can see them from the side yard, spilling over the fence. I love it when flowers cascade over things. It's one case where spillage is a good thing.

Well, I'm off to do 1001 things today. This afternoon we're going as a family to see Marc's museum exhibit one last time as it ends tomorrow. Then we're off to Salt Lake to celebrate his step-dad's birthday. Not sure when packing will fit into the picture, probably late tonight. Wish me luck!

Busy, busy, busy. I'm happy to hear that the uniform will be optional for you (though the thought of you having to wear one is enough to send me into fits of giggles, which I enjoy). The sign for Marc is marvelous, and chocolate mousse with good French chocolate is a celebration indeed.

I love the way that Jenn cut the flower in half- cute, and economical! Jenn's really getting good at this good-mail thing too. :) Good luck today!

I feel out of the loop on this Denver trip, but hope you have fun and travel safe.

I love the cute stuff from Jenn.

I laughed at Mark's fondest wish, but how convenient that it is easy and free! I have a friend whose "motto" is there's always birthday _ _ _...when you aren't thoughtful and don't have a gift. A win-win really.

Ha! Ha! Cubscouts sounds fantastic! Actually, I thought it a little cultish with the "Roundtable" and such. Cubscouts . . . mmm . . . sounds great. I can't wait for you guys to come out tomorrow!

OH NO! I wanted to see Marc's exhibit! I thought I had until June! (I actually had to stop and think if it was already June- I have lost all sense of time!) Jill said it was awesome and I know I had months to get there, I'm sorry!
Have fun in Denver, I do not envy all the things you have to do to get ready for so many events! Hopefully, once you are there, it will be peaceful and delightful!
