Bella's Birthday Party

Yesterday was Bella's first birthday! We all went to her party in the park, and I again realized how rare these family outings have been in the last few months. It's so fun to all go somewhere together and I'm glad we can now do it more frequently. But anyway, back to Bella's party. Jessie of course made everything so cute -- from the pink tablecloth to the pink & green balloons to the pink paisley paper plates and napkins to the darling cupcakes with daisies on them. It was a beautiful day and not even too hot in the shelter of the pavilion.

My kids had a great time eating multiple cupcakes and playing on the playground. There were about 30 seagulls hanging around, and Eva was on a mission to chase them down. The babies went back to back in a baby swing and fit just fine -- too funny. It was so fun to watch Bella with her new piano, she couldn't stop smiling and was definitely not too interested in the rest of her presents. Hey, the girl knows what she likes.

An added bonus was that there were quite a few blogging friends there. I met Robin and Mark. I saw Hannah again and got to meet Linc and Mya. Sadly, Mya was injured yesterday morning and had to go to InstaCare. Here she is with her arm in a sling:

And here's Rachelle with Daniel. I had never seen him in person before, and what a darling little boy he is!

Marc and Max worked on Max's big research project for the rest of the day and then we all went to Dairy Queen to celebrate his hard work. It was a pretty good day.

Today, however, Lucas has been complaining all day of not feeling well. I thought he was just lobbying to stay home from church so I didn't pay too much attention to the whining. Throughout the day he kept telling me he was feeling worse. However, he was still eating and trying to convince Max to play a Pokemon card battle with him, so I still didn't pay it much heed. A couple of hours ago he started throwing up and he is getting sick every 10 minutes or so. Poor guy! I hate it when this happens -- this is when I really feel like a bad mom. I should have listened!

The photos from Bella's party are darling, and I think it's great that you got to meet all of Jessie's friends. It's like you a preblogging party party.

I was bummed that we didn't have more time to hang around! I was grateful for our brief meeting, at least (: Hopefully we will have many more opportunities to cross paths in the future.

What a fun day with Jesse and Co. Try not to beat yourself up too much. How are you supposed to know what's ging on with your kids when there are no symptoms. And besides, what could you have done differently? You're a good Mom--we all think so!

It was nice to meet you and your family. Too bad my kids were tired so we couldn't stay longer and get to know you better.
