day 9 of {21} challenge
Alrighty, folks, I'm making up for lost time here. I was out of the blogging world for almost 2 days and now I'm back with a vengeance. Here's my attempt at day 9. The quote is: "The principle is competing against yourself. It's about improvement, about being better than you were the day before." -- Steve Young (Seriously, how does Rhonna find these quotes? Because I really like it, it's applicable, but I'm not normally gonna find a quote by Steve Young, ya know?)
So here was my process: I wanted to show visually competing against myself and trying to make something better and better. I don't know if I succeeded, but I had fun using 2 of my new stamps!

Three new posts! I love that...I have been waiting for your next challenge post.
This is awesome...again! One of our bishopric counselors said that when he did a temple recommend interview and asked the question about if we feel worthy to enter the House of the Lord. The person being interviewed said he honestly felt more worthy than he did the last time he answered that question. I thought that was a great way to judge our own progression. I worry at how noncompetitive I have gotten not because I want to compete with everyone but I have become very complacent. I will have to ponder this idea of competing with oneself. I really like that.
Are you kidding me? This is so awesome. Not only do I like your idea, but the fact that you are artistic enough to improve all the stages of the stamp and all that. Very cool quote as well.
You're freaking me out with the ingenuity you're using to come up with all these designs. Very cool.
I really like that quote and the idea of competing with yourself and not others. At lunch with Jenn yesterday she said that her mom thought it was interesting how all of us are posting our projects on our blogs and wondered if we felt like we were trying to "one up" each other.
Jenn told her that though we may feel sickened slightly (in an envious way) we don't feel threatened by each other, but are inspired by what the other people are doing and want to try to do creative things too.
So ultimately it's about improving ourselves and using our talents. Cool.
So pretty! What I love about that quote is that it puts everything in perspective, and on your own level. If you're only trying to compete with yourself, it's not that intimidating. You only have to be a little bit better than you were the day before, and I can handle that. (most days.)
Yea. i had been wondering about you and am happy to hear from you.
love the colors.
I've never felt very competitive in my life, and I like it! I get inspired by other designers, (scrapbookers being in that realm too) and like inspiring others too. Some artists feel if they share an idea,it takes away from them, I feel it's the Lord's way to share our ideas, talents, time...you know! I do like the idea of competing with myself and think I can really relate to that! Way cool page!! I AM inspired by all those ideas!
I love the page! Such a cool idea--I would have never thought of it. That's why it's so fun to see what you and everyone are up to.
I've also wondered where Rhonna gets all of those great quotes. Do you think she collects them in a book? I've always wanted to do a quote book, but I end up getting too caught up on how to organize it, the fact that I have a hard time getting a verbatim quote, etc. All type A stuff that drives me crazy and really holds me back!
