sunday best

Today we went to Sacrament Meeting in my parents' old ward -- where Jessie grew up (largely) and I attended for just one year (senior year). I only recognized a few people, but Jessie was excited to see a lot of people that she knew. It was testimony meeting and there was some good food for thought: one woman mentioned a talk by Elder Packer where he encouraged us to write our own blessings, i.e. sit down and write about the blessings we want in our lives or those we love. Then live worthy of receiving those blessings (the hard part). She said she and her husband had done it over the new year and were amazed at all that has come to past just in this short period of time. One of the blessings they wanted was for her father to return to the gospel, and it has already started to happen -- a true miracle in her eyes.

For me, the best part was sitting with both my parents and Jessie and all singing together. I started to get a little teary, especially when I was really feeling the lack of my brother Ryan. That would have made it complete if he were there with us (hasn't happened for as long as I can remember.)We took some photos after church and I thought I'd show Eva in her Sunday finery. This was her first opportunity to wear this outfit Grandma gave her for Christmas since we've been keeping her home post-RSV. Love it.

i LOVED singing together! Family voices blend like none other can. i thought it sounded so amazing, mostly because of you two. And we sang in parts, so that's fun :)

How beautiful is she?! Holy cow, what a doll. I love it when families sing together. There is nothing like it.

I can just imagine how fantastic you all sounded singing together. Were the people sitting in front of you turning around to look for angels? Most likely.

Eva is stunning of course and has more beautiful clothing than I ever knew one baby could have. Give her a squeeze for me.

Grandma has good taste! But one only hase to look around your house and see all of the great things she's given you to know that! What a sweet little doll!

I'm glad that singing with your family was such an enjoyable experience. When the Blatter family gets together in sacrament meeting they tend to sing loud enough to drown everyone else out. They have fabulous talent, but really, isn't part of singing in a congregation trying to blend in? I guess it's a good bonding experience, though, for those of us who like to try to be a little less conspicuous--we get to roll our eyes together!

I want to sing with you, too! I can be the tenor! Wish I could be there.

Eva is SO darling--I wish her well in the closet.

I love going to church with my family, which doesn't happen all that often because we all live so far apart. I remember singing with my four sisters. I doubt we were any good but we had dreams of being the female version of the Jackson 5 (not really - but it sounds good). Eva is the cutest thing!

I guess it'snot too good to speak of pride and Sacrament meeting in the same breath, but I was so proud of two beautiful daughters and two beeuutiful grandaughters. It was wonderful to be there together.
