Last July, we added a new tradition of making friendship books for the birthday celebrations as well. I was so excited for my turn to arrive to get a book made especially for me by my darling friends. And, even though I have marveled at each of the books that came before, I was blown away by what they made. (Each one seems to add a new layer of creativity and its accompanying impetus to produce something amazing...) Not only is it gorgeous in its execution, but it is wonderfully touching and personal. Definitely one of the top gifts I have ever received! After my initial cursory read-through (I will peruse it many more times without the pressure of everyone watching) I told them that either I don't know myself very well or they don't know me -- the things that they said about me don't jive with my impression of myself. I love and want to be that person! I feel like they rocked my world. But that will be the subject of a future post, after I've had a chance to ponder it some more...
The only disappointment was the movie portion of the evening. Sadly, Collette was getting a migraine and had to go home. Then Jana had to leave to pack for her trip to Idaho this morning. Worst of all, we watched In Her Shoes. Do not let the fact that Ebert & Roper gave it two enthusiastic thumbs up persuade you to watch this film. It was so lame! If only I had remembered Jenn's passionate distaste for Cameron Diaz sooner... Characteristically, I fell asleep during the second half (it's just so dark and cozy in Amy's family room!) but I don't think I missed out on anything. I guess we should have watched Walk The Line instead. Or basically anything else, for that matter.
** I can't believe I forgot to mention that they also gave me a gift certificate to Pebbles!!! Oh the joy... **
Anyway, check out these pics of my beautiful birthday book. (I couldn't include them all -- it would probably take me half the day to upload the 16 photos I took.) Just try and tell me that I don't have the best friends in the world!

How awesome Michelle. Great friends who truely know you can be hard to come by. You are lucky indeed and what a beautiful book. Wish I could read all the things they wrote about you. Sounds like your entire birthday was excellent this year.
I can't wait to see this in person.
Awesome thanks for taking so many photos so i could enjoy it.
So glad you like it and trust what we say- we love you best!
Can I be in your circle of friends? What an incredible group of women. Your birthday has set a new standard for me, but I'm not sure I'll ever have one to match your 35th!
Your book is beautiful! What a blessing to have such great friends! Have you seen Walk the Line yet? I have no particular interest in Johnny Cash and I had never heard of June Carter, but I LOVED the movie.
It was a fun night, and well worth the fatique I'm feeling right now!
Your book is so awesome. Each of our little contributions is minimal compared to Jenn's covers, concept, and embellishments. I hope you love it. Think of it as aethetically pleasing therapy, so whenever you feel a little blue just sit and hold it for a bit, then turn the pages and read all the nice things we had to say about you--because we know what we're talking about.
I can't wait to see it in person! jenn, the cover is particularly cute! And I know everything they've said is true.
I was sooo bummed when the migraine came. I am sad I missed out on the festivities. Funny thing though, I rented "In Her Shoes" and watched it Friday night. I actually liked it and even shed a tear (maybe it is PMS). Anyway, you are truly awesome and I am so glad you liked your book, GC and dinner - you deserve only the best!
