Time of death: 8:40 p.m.

Two of our favorite puppets died last night. Well, really they died on Friday night, but it took us until Saturday night to call it. (They were hard to part with.) Marc's sister Michelle offered to come stay with the kids while we went on a date. While we were gone, a half-gallon of latex paint accidentally got tipped over downstairs. (I had it out to paint a shelf for my scrapbook room and obviously THOUGHT the lid was on tightly...) Poor Michelle spent a good deal of time and effort trying to clean up that disaster -- it spilled all over the carpet and there were a few other casualties, including The Big Bad Wolf and Kitty. Needless to say, we felt awful about Michelle having such an ordeal while at our house! Kitty was a puppet from Germany that Marc has fond childhood memories of. The Big Bad Wolf played a prominent role in Lucas's "Random People Plays". We soaked them with the hope that we could salvage them, but finally had to admit defeat. Fortunately, Eva had yet to meet Kitty -- with her love of cats, that was a disaster averted!

What a mess. Poor Michelle--offering to do a good deed and thinking she would get to relax and fill her Eva-cuteness tank, only to have to clean up paint and stress about it.

What did you and Marc end up doing?

I just cringe at the thought of paint spilling... so sorry for everyone!

We went to Home Depot and Costco to look at carpet and banister options. Then to Costa Vida and tried a new menu item -- chicken mango salad with tropical dressing. Yum!
